The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

My mom put these in my Easter basket. I got the pattern from someone on the ny thread.

This is what happened this Easter. :D Although both are boys, and mom wants nothing to do with them. So yeah.. we have two bottle kids at the moment, but we are going to continue to try to get her to bond with them. Fingers crossed.

Ok my creative friends. I almost got the herb boxes done. I ran out of materials to make the last 2 covers. My friend thinks he has a few more pieces so I can finish them up :)

I'm trying to think up a way to make a smaller rain barrel to water them. I have downspout I can cut in half to make gutters. Any ideas?

P.s. The herb boxes are dual purpose. Grow herbs & veggies for the hens that they can eat as they need them & they can get under it for shade/hawk protection as well :) and it blocks hat side of the coop so the tarp is up and let's air flow in and hopefully keeps rain out

I know :D I was so thrilled when I went to close up last night and saw her laying down and a head out. :) Here is an updated picture. The one on the right is so cute!
goats are so cute. I've only interacted with them really since I've been an adult one time and that was at the state fair. It was through the fence, they would come up to me and I'd talk to them and watch them eat stuff/trash people had thrown into their pen. Cute little things, for sure

Thanks, Redridge.

It sounds like they may not work for places where the floor isn't dirt from your description since they need the moisture from the ground. Am I right?
Hey there LM, My sister uses the pine pellets in her coop with a wood floor. They actually break down quite nicely. She cleans her coop out about every 3 months and throws the spent litter into the run. It's like walking on a comfy mattress but not too soft. I'm going to start using them in mine just under the roosts for a trial run.

They are like dogs. Dogs that don't know commands ;)
