The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

But don't worry bout it you won't have to hear anymore of my stupid posts
I never though your post was stupid, it can make a difference on how you read the article, so I gave my opinion on how I read it. I found your responses to it good.

If I left any time someone disagreed with me... I'd have left the first week! As many breeds of chickens as there are... there are (I'm guessing) twice as many opinions about how best to take care of them. Your input sparks conversation, Papyrus, and that's what keeps these threads alive!

I mix and match what I do, though I prefer natural I will use chemicals or medicines if I deem it necessary. I am considering developing a more natural wash for cleaning my coop, right now I use dawn dish soap & bleach to scrub it down. I think I might dry some camellia leafs and use them to make an antibacterial tea next time that I can sponge over the coop areas after they are scrubbed and rinsed. Might add other herbs as well. Anyway I just cleaned it today... I always add herbs and or edible flowers to the coop after cleaning what I add depends on what is growing in my yard... today's mix is Lemon Balm, Rosemary, Sage, and Spearmint. @TheGreatPapyrus
I wasn't sure what you were referring to on your previous posts and then I finally figured out it was an article somewhere.

I agree with the others. There are plenty of opinions and that's what a forum is for. The tricky thing is being able to express our thoughts and opinions without attacking someone that has other opinions. I think we are pretty respectful of each other on this thread and that's a good thing.

I started just adding fresh herbs on a lark a while back and when I have them rose pedals or other edible flower petals to hopefully help relax the birds, give them something to peck at, and be a sort of bug preventative and they smell nice. I will probably fumigate the coop next cleaning with herbs that have oils in the smoke that are cleansing as well. Thinking on what I want in the herb tea wash besides Camilla maybe a natural insecticide herb too for next wash down of coop.
