The Never Ending Hatching thread! For those of us that hatch all year long!

Awww. Sorry they didn't hatch. You'll have better luck next time! Sometimes they just weren't meant to be.

it's still really sad. I mean I wouldn't have wanted to keep that chick anyway. I already have 3 black ones and when i pulled it from the shell i saw it's black as well. But I hate when baby animals die. Even if I didn't want to keep it I'm sure someone would have wanted a black chick. I could have re-homed or traded it for one that I want.
I'm trying to get a rainbow of chickens :) I'm in need of a white and a red. But at the same time i want an EE

I can ship you a rainbow of eggs that produce a rainbow of babies. Check my BST ad in my signature.

maybe after i get at least one successful hatch from this incubator. I don't want to pay for eggs if i can't hatch them successfully. still working the kinks out of it. Thinking of getting a fan to hook up in it. I've never used anything but still air incubators. This one however is having issues. bad luck i think is all it is. Or the small number of eggs i'm hatching at a time leaving me with poor results (no hatches so far).
I am thinking of seeing if the farm supply stores end up getting in EEs. Because I could get some already hatched then for same price as eggs but not worry about hatch rate. I love hatching chicks, but sometimes ya gotta give up and just buy the chicks.

It really looks like a great incubator but I think it will do much better with a fan. The heat and humidity will distribute much more evenly.

Just keep practicing on cheap eggs.

You can sometimes buy chicks cheaper than hatching but I can guarantee you once you have a successful hatch, you will become a bator-holic

Keep calm and bator on!!

i use to have a great incubator (still air) that I never had an unsuccessful hatch with. I even hatched a duck egg in that old one that i dropped 3 times on the way to the incubator. It was cracked covered in nail polish and incubated with no issues. BUT i moved and thought i grabbed my incubator but apparently didn't. My brother saw it at my moms and threw it in the garbage. YES a $100 incubator plus egg turner and he threw it in the garbage.
For my sis in laws birthday/x-mas and my brothers birthday/x-mas present my husband got me this incubator. Not sure what is going wrong with it. I mean I was hatching eggs out of a cooler with a light bulb with no issues. But i get an incubator and i can get the eggs to lock down then everything fails. I think i'm going to get a different thing to measure humidity and see if that is what is going wrong.

I set 18 giant cochins yesterday - to add to the 12 buff orps 5 days earlier.

friday i'm going to start more eggs. Try again with hatching. I'm addicted. I'm buying eggs from someone here on BYC and then getting some from my mom. Hoping to get several chicks to hatch this time.

Thats quite an assortment! Are those all from your chickens?

I hope it's a three bedroom lol You need to get on the BYC Members Map, I don't think there is anyone on it from Hawaii yet. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/740342/interactive-byc-map
