The Never Ending Hatching thread! For those of us that hatch all year long!

I locked down 10 EE and 1 OE today.
This time I'm trying to get enough eggs to almost fill or completely fill my incubator up. I have an egg turner i believe it holds 48 eggs? I'd have to double check it. I figure if i fill it up then I will be more likely. but when i start with 6 eggs and only half are fertile.... well that has been my problem. I'm not putting enough eggs in at one time. I need to do way more to get success. I also changed the humidity thingy. I switched it to one that I know is accurate. hoping that will help.

most turners hold 42 but dont use the one closest to the motor because of heat

Here is what is currently running around my brooder.

The broilers & older birds:

The pullets & younger straight runs:

And this is a view of my brooder from the outside before the divider went in. That is a 50 pound bag of chick feed sitting next to it for reference.

It's an old wardrobe closet laid on it's back. Dimensions are 5 ft long, 3 ft wide & 2 1/2 feet deep. I still need more room

I have CX broilers & BB white poults shipping tomorrow from Ideal. I have 1 bator in active hatch right now & another stuffed with a staggered hatch set for the 25th-3rd.

I just took my Brinsea Mini Advanced and my Hobavator with 24 Silkie and Serama eggs to my grand-daughters 1st. grade class so they could watch them hatch. I brought along a Serama pair, my RIR hen and one of my Silkie hens to show them where the eggs come from. It was such a great experience for them and me. I will be going back next week to show them all about candling. After they hatch, fingers crossed, I am going to sell the chicks and give the $ to the class.
Just and update....Candled all the eggs today and I have 21 veins and action and only 3 throw-aways(2-clear 1-Blood ring)!!!!! All throw-aways were Serama eggs. They are very excited for hatch day in the class......13 days to go.......Kinda hard for me to sit back and have someone else do all the humidity and temp checks and adjustments but very exciting also and for a good cause.

Awesome :)

after a lot of thought i decided to put a fan in my incubator. followed the instructions for where to put it that came with my incubator. But i used a fan that was one of those ones that has two fans in it that are for under a laptop. I never use it so i broke it in half took one fan out and wired it to an old cellphone charger. Then attached it to the incubator and plugged it in. Works perfectly :)
