The Never Ending Hatching thread! For those of us that hatch all year long!

NOT an expert, but it sounds like the switch is working. The wafer tells it when to switch on and off. If the screw is in good shape, I would just buy the wafer and try that first.
Thank you, I don't really know all the ins and outs of these things yet so wasn't sure about what parts actually needed to be replaced. I will try just the wafer and see what happens.

Let us know how it goes. The fan on mine started going out last night, making a horrible sound now.

i'm in lock down now i hope something hatches
Good luck! How many this time?

I almost forgot to take my eggs out of the incubator and put them in the hatcher again. They were supposed to go into lockdown yesterday and I just snapped. Last time they hatched in the turner cups. No one is pipping yet.

still fooling with the big redwood; added two tubs of water to the bottom and the cheapie hygrometer is at 40% now. I know these ducks eggs have probably dried down maybe a bit more than they should judging by the size of the air cells but hoping things will come out ok. One of the cheeped at me last night when I was checking them. Due Sat but my last hatch was due on a Sat and started on Fri morning. so who knows. Waiting for my digital temp/hygrometer to come now

EEEEEKK!!! I was filling the water pans in the big bator. I had realized that if I wasn't using the tray with hatching baskets then the sides of this tray are too short and the chicks could hop out and fall in the water pan and drown, so I was transferring the eggs due on Sat to plastic containers with high sides when the duck eggs started cheeping at me and I realized they are pipping!

Almost four days early! The only thing I can think of is that the styrobator they were in was running about 101-102 last week, which must have sped them up a bit. Hoping they make it out ok.

Wow you have your hands full!! good luck :) i'm sure it will be OK...

Running 3 bators with staggered hatches right now. 1st batch due 20th, then a batch in another bator due the 24th-25th. Next batch (split between 2 bators) is due Easter Day, then I set a batch of chicks for the 3rd & ducks, turkeys & geese for the 10th yesterday.

wow, that's a lot to keep track of! You are going to be really busy!

Well one little duckie is out this morning and another almost unzipped, couple more are pipped. fingers crossed everybody makes it out ok. Still have 8 buff orpington eggs in there, due Sat. When they are all done I'll have about 4 doz more to put in; some more Welsh Harlequin duck, some Muscovy duck and the rest will be easter eggers and olive eggers from my Welsummer hens and EE roo.
