Looks like a girl to me.![]()
Locking down 24 mixes from my laying hens today. This is one of my last mix hatches. Going to concentrate on my Ameraucanas. Well maybe some EE and OE
TIME FLIES!The link to the Rainbow Layers is in my siggy.
I never toss any the 1st time I candle & suspect a problem unless they stink or are leaking. Sometimes they surprise you.hmmm to toss the egg or not to toss it. I had 6 eggs in the incubator. 2 weren't fertile and have been thrown out. Then i noticed one of the 4 that are left has it where the veins in the egg move way to easily if i turn the egg. Should I toss it or give it more time to see what it does? They've been in 8 days and are more developed then any of my eggs have ever been at 8 days. The temp has been a steady 99.5 Not sure why they are developing so fast. Usually i can't see much til day 10. but these look like a typical day 10 at day 8.
I plan to stop turning them on day 14 instead of day 18 then raise humidity on day 18. I'm trying new things to see what gets the best result.
I have Rainbows set in 3 different bators right now. Due to temp fluctuations in the bators (probably due to temp flux in the house) 2 bators full look iffy right now. Bator 1 has delayed development & appears to be several days behind schedule & Bator 2 has several bloodrings. I have left everything in except the obvious clears. Never know. Bator 3 was just set on Monday, so not much to see there yet. I can say that out of 80 eggs set from the Rainbows I have only had 1-2 that have failed to at least start so fertility is nearly 100%.TIME FLIES!
How are the rainbows going?
I am suffering jet lag and chicken withdrawal.
It sound like you are on your way to one of those nail biting delayed hatches. We are here for you in spirit!I never toss any the 1st time I candle & suspect a problem unless they stink or are leaking. Sometimes they surprise you.
