The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread

Hm, I've never done this before, but it sounds fun & I've got the eggs - someone stop me from turning on the cabinet incubator!!! 'Cause the Genesis is so full I've got it stacked.

I have 18 Mille Fleur Cochin eggs from my flock. Bidding starts at $40 plus $12 shipping priority. I've been getting at least 6 eggs a day from 2 pens & these are fresh and fertile, and I always pack well. I think they gave me 8 or 9 today. I collect often throughout the day and every single egg has been fertile since I set these pens up.
Pics taken today:

Auction listed at 11:25pm CST

Hope you will be offering this again! We had a power outage last night during a rain storm, so had no internet! Should have bid early on!!!!!

Up for auction are 9 sizzle and silkie eggs. One of my splash hens are laying and I have a white silkie hen in the sizzle pen for lack of another place to put her right now. The sizzle hens that are possibly laying are: silver laced grey smooth hen, splash frizzled pullet, black sizzle pullet, partridge frizzled silkie hen and blue sizzle hen. They are covered by a white silkie roo that has a few spots on him. The white silkie hen also has a few black spots on her. The splash, the roo is from Bobbi Porto lines and they always produce very nice offspring. Several of them have been shown and I have one that I'm going to show on the 27th.

Bidding starts at $10 with shipping at $13.00. Auction ends on sunday (8/25) at 7pm CST. Payment is expected immediately at auctions end and I'll send your DC# when I get the label printed. Eggs will be shipped on Monday.

The hen above looks black in the pic, she's blue just bad lighting

This splash pullet has been shown and won 1st in BV

This partridge hen has also been shown and won 1st in BV. She is a frizzled silkie

This is a white sizzle chick that is older than the ones below

This chick came from the smooth silver laced grey hen. She does produce frizzled offspring

This partridge chick came from the partridge hen

The blue chick came from the blue hen and the white one from my white hen that is currently out of production preparing for show on tuesday

This chick came from the smooth silver laced grey hen. This chick is also smooth

Another partridge chick. This one is looking to be a frizzled silkie

This is the roo over the sizzles and the white hen below

This is the white hen. She was broody when I took the pic. Thats why she's sitting that way. I took her off of eggs to get the pic last year.

if you have a dedicated broody hen they can hatch them out fine.. but you have to be prepared to rescue the eggs if she decides to abandon the nest...
THis is the second nest for both. Not sure why, poor hatching rates from my girls. I don' t really mind as I don't really want more ducks. THey were broken up from the first effort, and then they started collecting eggs again.

Scovies are hard to hatch..I have a way to hatch them that works pretty good if anyone wants the info..drop me a line.
Ok spill.
lol..

If you watch a hen start her nesting, she sets the nest only at night the first 4-5 days..sometimes longer.
I plug in my incubator only at night for 4 days. I keep the turner plugged in till internal pip.
I leave the eggs in the turner till they internally pip.
The hens take a bath almost every other day after the first week
I slightly mist my eggs with warm water (105) every other day after the first week until internal pip.
I do not add water at all to the incubator until day 25. I try to keep it at 40% after day 25 to day 33, I bump it up to 55% after first internal pip. Hens do not get off to swim except once during the last few days of hatching. Once they hear ducklings they usually stay on the nest. That is why i do not increase humidity too high.
I do not pick up the eggs and handle them after I find the first internal pip..I add water, close the lid and do not open it again till they all hatch.
I start checking for internal pip on day 33 and add my water after first internal pip.
I had my first 100% hatch when i copied a hens routine. She had 7 eggs and I took 6 of her eggs. I wrote down every thing she did and copied it using the incubator.

You live in a different environment..try writing down the habits of your hens and copy for your environment.
Very clever of you to put this all together. I have always followed the same method as the chicken eggs and hoped for the best and only have 2-3 hatch. Very intersting method.
