The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread

Hi Reyvaughn
I have had some PMs about your auction

The wording on your auctions is a little unusual.
I see you are all selling the eggs you collect so if your hens stop laying and you will only send what you had before you posted the auction (which in one instance would be 2 eggs). You also stated the number of eggs you expect to have collected. People bidding on the auctions may naturally be disappointed if the number of eggs sent is not near the expected number.

Since these are relatively expensive eggs please could you clarify what you intend to do if the number of eggs you have to send is way below the expected number. Thanks so much.

I have:
6 Blue/Black eggs collected (said at least 6)
7 MFCs (said should get at least10)
2 Bantam Chocolates (said should get at least 6 eggs)
2 LF Chocolate/Mauves (said should have at least 3-6 to send)

I did my auction this way because I usually forget to post and have over 80 eggs on my turners. I was hoping to get the freshest eggs out I could. Personally, I care more about freshness over numbers. I did say if I had to, I would hold and collect eggs on Monday and ship Tuesday so the eggs would be no older than 4 days when shipped. My girls just started laying again about 3-4weeks ago. I am not worried about them stopping.

I get it, I have some little Cochin eggs I am collecting...three of them laid the same day are about six days old...I think I have seven eggs and the rest was laid one a day since then, they even skipped a day.,, I would put them up but I would have to take out the three older ones? Or can give the customer the option to keep them in? I mean a hen Lays for like twenty days sometimes before she broods them....are we allowed to offer eggs that are like six days old to a buyer IF they want them if they are informed? like this time I can say ok four eggs are under four days but three are gonna be over...delima ... So I am doing nothing lol.

eggs in your home (no special care) have about a 10 day window before the proteins start to degrade and hatch rates drop ... now IF they are being kept chilled with proper humidity (60% or better) and turned daily ..they can go longer (I have kept them for 28 days that way) and still hatch fine...

add into it shipping stress on eggs that are starting to degrade and it lowers the hatch rate..

so a good bit of the degradation depends on how the eggs have been stored and handled before they are shipped... and not so much the age of the eggs...

Which Chocolates?  LF or Bantam or both?  Yes, I will combine.

I have:
6 Blue/Black eggs collected
7 MFCs
2 Bantam Chocolates
2 LF Chocolate/Mauves

Seems some of the girls dislike the cold.

I wish I could afford all of you auctions you have beautiful birds. Moneys short this week again. I hate citizens bank. Class action lawsuit for switching the way they take withdrawals out and they're still doing it. I digress tho. My bid wa on the bantams. I would have kept going on the Bbs Cochins but can't afford more than $45 this week. So trying bantam chocolates. Ill keep trying hoping to win one. Lol

Humidity is about 63 % in there it is very cool.eggs in two turners.... :D I still wouldn't due to the rules, of only four days old wanna be sure how they are hatching so you let me know.. ;)

Me personally, I ship eggs within four days of being laid, period. Day 4 if they're not in the mail, they go in my incubator. That way even if the USPS colossally screws up and it takes five days to get to their destination, they're still less than ten days old. Almost always they're shipped within three, and take two days (3 over the weekend) to get where they're going. Five days from my chicken's butt to your doorstep is how I like it

Hence why I keep them in my downstairs bathroom! It's actually the most stable-temperature room in the house (no exterior walls) and sits right around 68 degrees year-round (a little cooler in winter, but not too bad), and I don't turn the fan on when I use the shower anymore. Plus there's a built in linen cabinet with lots of shelf space for eggs, lol!
