That is a good point. In California (at least in San Diego) the temperatures are still cool and I would have no worries having eggs shipped from the west coast. From anywhere else requires careful consideration.
The last 3 sets of eggs shipped here have done very well.

and I've had quite the opposite! How long in general does it take a bad egg to start oozing when not being incubated?

Any egg that is oozing is either broken and bacteria have already got in, or if not broken is old and/or have sat in heat.

It is possible to get eggs sent from hot parts of the country but success starts with the seller being meticulous with collection, storage, freshness and packing.

That is why it is so important to give and use feedback to see who are the reliable sellers.

I have a long "trusted" list of sellers and a short "never again" list.

The post office is responsible for many many losses but if the eggs are well packed and fresh they can survive all sorts of abuse.

Most sellers now pack very well and this has changed in the last 12-18 months. I have only had broken eggs once this year.

Sellers that send out badly packed eggs that get damaged in transit, and do not replace them when informed about it are IMO verging on immoral.

It is always good to take pics of oozing or broken eggs - preferably in their bad packaging.

that's disappointing news. I had always heard such good things about this seller.
