The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread

Quote:

It's my feed. I have it mixed at my local mill. There's a recipe page here, and the spreadsheet to figure your own feed recipe is here. Just download it or make a copy and enter your own info to work up a recipe that works for what you can get where you are.

There's a thread somewhere with a great discussion for making your own feed and lots of advice from others who've done it for longer than I have...lots of conflicting opinions, but I have shared what I believe on many threads and I'm happy with the way my birds look and hatch!!

It has a lovely smell from all the spices and molasses- which doesn't add a bunch of sugar, despite what some folks think. It is very high in manganese, choline, vitamin B6, lots of minerals, iron...and more. I'd love it if I have honey to use, but I haven't, since I feed 600+ birds right now...

Renee is a wonderful person who shares much of her knowledge and expertise. I for one am very grateful to her for her support and sharing. She has worked hard to develop lines of birds and apparently this formulation of feed. By "exclusive" she may simply mean she developed this recipe and no one else has it. SHe may or may not share the formula-- that is for her to say. We each have the right to choose how much we share and what we share. Maybe wait and see what Renee says ---

Eek!! I guess responses were flowing in while I was digging up my recipe links!!

Perhaps I should change the verbiage of the ad to read 'personalized' rather than 'exclusive.' I don't usually use that word, anyway...I must have been distracted...who, me?? No, I'm NEVER distracted!!!

Chookachicks,

I took your exclusive to mean they exclusively ate your special feed, not that it was not something you were willing to share. :). Which, thanks for doing so!

Thank you for sharing that. You did a lot of research and put a lot of time and effort into that, I would understand completely if you wanted to keep it Exclusive.

Yes, I think if you change the wordage just a bit, that would probably help.. or maybe add those links right into the auction. "Personalized" I like better.. Exclusive usually means "Mine"...

Excellent! Hurrah! I'm sure you're right, and that must be what I meant...I'm latching onto it even if it wasn't...because who can say? I certainly can't remember...

Changed, and you're quite welcome. You'll find as you poke around that I LOVE research and I LOVE to share, so there's a lot of my blithering about chickeny things all over the web...and magazines, and newspapers...and such. I think I'm really lucky I love poultry and not cats. Not to say that I haven't any cats, as I have 3...which is better than 800,000.

Back to bidding!! Sorry for the digression!

Quote: Excellent question. It depends on who is the father, generally, but I have had both a blue/purple and a very white color. The flesh is generally dark, but these are a very small bird, not suitable for the dark-fleshed dual-purpose projects...I DO have a VERY dark project in a much larger bird, but I'm still getting about 50% dark flesh, 50% pale. The bone color is still variable, and not all with dark flesh have dark bones.
