The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread

Anyone know the max temp an egg can get and still remain viable? Been perfect weather here (about 75 degrees all week), but some of you guys are having a rough time w/ high temps... I seem to recall reading *somewhere* something about 105 being the cutoff... but cannot recall the context (storing for incubation vs. actual incubation) I do remember it being the membrane becoming impervious to gasses that caused the issue.
I've had them reach 116 and hatch. I don't even know how long the temp was that high, because I was gone for that weekend. Almost all of them hatched. I can't get a dang egg to hatch when the hatch runs textbook perfect. I've talked a lot into continuing and at least trying (as have others) and they end up having great hatches most times. Just candle later on. I've had broodies take off and hide nests and show u with up the 18 chicks in the middle of August. We're looking at 112 today, so imagine our Augusts.

I am with you..................after micro managing, beating myself up for a lost hatch ect.............

I've come to the conclusion (for myself) that if they are going to hatch they do..................and if they aren"t they don't.
Conclusion...............my hens did not read the written instructions..............

I've had some really weird experiences that did not fit the book.a chick at 27 days, chicks that hatched after a long 110* spike.
That's what keeps me hatching..........

Never hatched eggs and don't have an incubator yet :(

I am interested in these auctions and looking to get an incubator soon. However, that being said, anyone auctioning chicks? (Preferably brown egg layers or EE's)

Thank you in advance!

I'm going to do what my great grandmother used to do. Stick some eggs on a towel in a bucket and still it outside. Three weeks later...chicks! I've had chicks hatch at day 18 and at day 28. I never toss eggs now until day 29 or 30. LOL

If anyone is living in the heat we are here, I sure hope they aren't shipping chicks. Did you check the Buy Sell section and look for someone near you? Or you can even go to your state thread and ask to see if someone has any.
