The NEW Crazy 24hr AUCTION thread

My hens are laying, but it is too cold to ship them now. We got 4 inches of snow last night and it is supposed to be cold for at least a week. I've also heard from people that work at the post office that the handling of packages is rather "sloppy" during the holidays.

Very!!! while not eggs, i just had a 2 day priority from less then 100 miles from me take 5 days while a 1st class package came all the way across the country in just two.
I just shipped five boxes from Ebay auctions (not eggs!) that I mailed on Saturday the 19th and all arrived on Monday - all the way across the country. But the one box sent to an address just two hours away, also too two days?

Right now the Post Office has hired a bunch of extra Holiday staff, so it might be a really good time to ship eggs now, since it's too late for most Christmas packages. The big rush is basically over now, but the extra temporary staff will still be working a little longer. I'm guessing for the next week folks will continue to see unusually fast coast-to-coast shipping. May be a good time to contact friends in faraway places with eggs to share.

My past experience is that Christmas is a good time to send stuff if you want it to arrive super fast! How it's handled in transit, however, I don't know? I'm assuming handling is not more rough, probably average.

*Edited to add: I just checked, and looks like the extra Holiday staff in most places is through January 8 or 9. So you might get unusually fast delivery for another couple of weeks?

This thread has been cleaned up of posts violating our rules.

Please remember that even though this thread is "special", rules still need to be followed. That means no arguing, fighting and no questioning of moderation publicly. If you have an issue with how something was moderated, please talk to the Staff member who contacted you.

And by the way, the Staff member acted after Staff discussion. The moderator did indeed "know what was going on".

If you want to be able to expand your offerings, we can close this thread and you can move to the swaps section where it is swapping only or you can post an ad in the appropriate section of the Buy Sell Trade area.

Thank you.
We will keep this thread for eggs only :)

Are there set times/days that auctions are done or is it an as needed basis? Thanks!

When members have excess hatching eggs, they will offer them up in a post on thes thread... starting bids and auction end time will be stated by the seller within the post... to participate you need 20 forum posts and is best to go read the rules in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum... egg sales are slow to nil right now though due to lowered egg laying in winter... it will pick up in spring...
