Lol - We have been talking about the possibility of him starting a side business building custom coops. He's concerned that he materials and labor would end up being more than people want to pay for a chicken coop. I paid around $700-$800 for all the materials, and if he was charging he would have charged something like $50/hour..... that would make the retail somewhere around $2,000, or more if people wanted fancier materials and designs. Does anyone think people would pay that much for a chicken coop? I think they would, but he is going to take some convincing.
I hadn't thought about the fumes in the garage. I can fit a car in there, but so far I haven't They have an outside window that gives them some fresh air, and we're going to install a bathroom fan for the winter.... still, I will be careful not to run a car in there for any amount of time.
Yes, we've been letting them out to free range in the afternoons for a bit. They love it so!
It's just great to see all the people walking by checking out the chickens. We live on a street that is a pedestrian access from the neighborhood to a little mini mall with a Walgreens and other popular shops, so we get a lot of passersby. People love them!
