No he's gotta be more than tough.  You also need wisdom, humility (opposite of pride), courage, and a gentle hand thats only tough when it needs to be.  Lets not forget dilligent (nobody likes a procrastinator), but not wound to tighly, he should know when to kick back and just enjoy life, or it will pass him by.
Captain America was a roughly good example, I was quite surprized when I saw it (not including the super human strength of course lol)

I wouldnt expect to have things down at the last second although the part of relaxing sounds nice. Enjoy it while you have it, tough as in meaning not easily fooled by anything and can stand up for what he believes in. If you don't stand for something you'll fall for everything.

I agree, I had to do the same thing. Though I used the word Stubborn to explain my self "Stubborn in my ways". Did me more good than harm.
