The New Way To Hatch And Grow An EMU Embryo ( Go Big Or Go Home)

It looks like it could be like a day 2 chicken embryo. The same thing happened last time with the duck embryo because they take longer to grow. I think we have some time but I still have hope.

I think you would have a higher success rate if you used a sterile technique during these experiments. For example, every time you wipe the tweezers on the towel or your hands you are getting a ton of bacteria on them and then re-introducing it to the embryo. Bacteria can be incredibly harmful to a developing embryo because they have no defense to protect themselves against it. In an eggs case the shell is the protective barrier, but without it, they are left vulnerable. I suspect if the embryo in the Emu egg was still viable at the time its shell and membrane were removed it probably only has 48 to 72 hours before it succumbs to bacterial infection.

Was the egg shipped to your house? Or did you go pick it up yourself? Shipped eggs sometimes just don't develop even though thye are fertile. I have had pretty bad luck with shipped eggs. They are all fertile, but some don't develop at all. Can you see a white bull's eye on the yolk?

Boooo. :( I have great success with my eggs but eggs I get elsewhere, even if they are not shipped, just don't seem to do as well.

Last video-

I dumped the egg into a bowl to see if anyting started and it look like it did for a short time then stopped. I kinda bummed but cant wait to try it again soon. I didnt want to waste so I made scrambled egg for my chickens.

sorry Pax!!! Keep trying!!! someone should be able to donate eggs to you.... have you tried to contact some local zoo's or reserves? I know we have a place in PA that has some HUGE types of birds, they may donate!!!
