The main problems that I could see happening is the lack of gas exchange and the possibility of bacteria invading. Is the cup porous like an egg shell?

I used this plastic that lets O2 in and Co2 out, and the cup was cleaned well so I hope bacteria doesn't get inside.

The real time span is 9 hours of it growing into 18 sec quick version.

The plastic wouldn't happen to be a Kordon Breathing Bag, would it? Just curious because I've had koi as well as other fish shipped to me in them and I know they let O2 in and Co2 out. That's good that the cup was sanitized, I'd just be worried that the cup isn't porous enough.
