The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

What do they do with the birds they kill? I would think they should be cremated but I don't know for sure. Every animal I trap or find dead anymore I burn in a superhot fire. I now have birds trying to nest under the eaves on my hen house. :th

I wondered about disposal too Mark. This article is not fun reading, but toward the bottom it explains how they are handled: bird-flus-grisly-question-how-to-kill-millions-of-poultry

Thanks Debby. It sounds gruesome. I don't believe enough is being done to secure a vaccine. I worry about it arriving around here.

I think it's a legitimate concern for everyone that has a flock.

That's really sad, I can't imagine having to do that 😕

Hopefully you won't have to do that Chrissy. Hope that article didn't upset you, I almost told you not to read it.

HI Chrissy. I hope it doesn't get around your coop. Praying for you with it so close. We do not have any large operations or poultry farms in our area.
We have poultry farms all around here. The infected one is about 4 miles from me, as the crow flies.

Verizon is a pain, but they actually have better service here than anybody else, so we're basically stuck with them. 😒
At my place, T-Mobile has a better signal. ATT and Verizon do not work well down stairs

The bird flu must be affecting egg prices. I paid $4.99 for an 18 count yesterday. I almost choked. One of our substitute teachers brought in eggs today. I grabbed 2 dozen. They were free and much appreciated.

I went to the store yesterday and they didn't have any 18 count eggs. I did pick up a dozen though, for I think about 1.75 make that $2.19 (just found my receipt).

That was nice you could get the free ones from a teacher DMC!

I can’t remember the price of a 12 count but it was more then that. We eat eggs every day so that was nice.
