The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

That sounds like a lot of fun. Especially the hammock part.

T-day clean up isn't a lot of fun so enjoy your cult!

This will be the first Thanksgiving that we have not spent with family. That's a little sad, but we are pretty good one on one.

good morning sour........

it's simple.......I cheat. since I have little ones that are very busy......I opt for an electric fryer. cooks a great bird.

everything else, including the desert will be done via the fire, including a dutch oven peach cobbler.......although this year, I may go crazy and make a dutch oven blackberry dump cake......

Yum, peach cobbler or blackberry dump cake...I say you can't go wrong with either one!

Pictures? That would involve going outside. Hmm, well, I'll see if I can pick up the camera after I put on 6 layers of clothes, lol.

Seriously, yesterday I showed the Princess that I was wearing a T -shirt, beneath a Henley, beneath a flannel shirt, beneath a vest, beneath my coat. She shook her head, laughed hysterically and said, "But it's not even winter. What are you going to do when it gets really cold?"

Hey, skinny old guys get cold.

DH and I love to spend Thanksgiving day and Christmas Day with just each other...it's a special quiet time just for the 2 of us. It's nice to see family and friends on the days close to the holidays though.

Have a special day with your Princess sour!

Sour's new name - Nanook of the North! Actually I'm about as bad - right now I have on a long sleeved t-shirt, an insulated vest, flannel lined jeans (Debby, smart girl would get a couple pairs!) and knee high socks. I'm in the truck with a Ken headed for Sioux Falls to have Thanksgiving with my family. Don't think sister Linda will be with us much longer and don't want to waste any chance to see her.

We left about 8:00 last night. Weather was closing in all around us and then when they closed the pass over the mountains we knew we'd have to take the long way - up to Billings, then over to Hardin and down to Sheridan. We originally planned to leave this morning but had we waited I'm not sure we would have gotten out. It rained steadily and heavily the entire day yesterday, then temps dropped and snow started so the roads would have been almost pure ice. No thanks! Hit Sheridan well after midnight so we spent the night there, had a good breakfast, and are now back on the road. Got a few dicey places still ahead but I think we pretty much ran in front of it. Of course, there's still the return trip to look forward to.....

Man, ya gotta really love turkey to be this dumb!

@Blooie you and Ken take it easy and have a safe drive. Good thing you left when you did. So sorry to hear about your sister, make the most of your time together (I know you will). It's too bad you have the weather to contend with but I'm glad you're going to get a chance to see your family.

Today is my sister's b-day...she passed away unexpectedly in 2001 at the age of 46 and is very much missed. It's really hard to lose a sibling.

Hugs to you Blooie

Thank you sour. I've reached the point where I miss her but enjoy her memory and the time we had. Mom is the one that has a really hard time on this day. I'll have to call her later, I really dread doing it, but I will.

I don't want to be sad today, my sister always wanted everyone to have fun and enjoy life. She was a pistol that's for sure!
