The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

My days of being fast are long gone. Every thing takes far longer at this point in the game.

That's ok sour...like some wise person once said "The older the violin, the sweeter the music". I think the Princess must be well pleased with your music to hang around for 53 years!

Well, a friend of Ken's called and wanted to look at buying his little yellow Datsun pickup. That thing is fantastic - and when we bought it two years ago it only had 23,000 actual miles on it. No tampering, no rollover.....the gentleman who bought it off the showroom floor in 1980 died shortly afterwards, and his wife simply closed the garage door. Oh, she had Garvin Motors come every year and change the oil, lube it up if it needed it, give it a good once over and even had the tires rotated and occasionally replaced, but she never drove it because it was a standard transmission. She was going to sell it once about 8 years ago, but she couldn't get the garage door open so she never got the information from it to advertise. When she passed away in 2015, the executor of her estate, another friend of Ken's, offered it to Ken and he jumped on it. Now it has 26,000 miles on it and still looks like brand new. See?

The day we picked up the Datsun.

That thing still drives like new, but it stinks in the winter so it gets parked! No weight, and it it just doesn't handle snow and ice well. Last year Ken got the Tundra and we don't need 3 pickups. (Yep, we have another one, an old 1996 Ford full sized one that we just use for hauls to the dump, etc.) So he decided to sell the Datsun. Problem is, it was buried across the street in all the snow, the drifts and the mounds from the snowplows, and I mean buried! Like up to the bottom of the windows. His friend was coming over the next day so Ken went out to dig it out and move it. He shouldn't have done that.

The doctor said today that one of the tendons between the upper bicep and the shoulder is ruptured. <sigh> So we are now waiting for the doc to call with the date and and time of Ken's consult with an orthopedic surgeon in Billings. He can't help with Kendra, can't take out the trash, can't drive, and is right now one hurting dude. I love my life I love my life I love my life........

Good morning folks

On the subject of listening to the DW .. before hubby left for his interview I reminded him that one of the questions would probably be “if you were to get the position, when could you start” and to be prepared with an answer.

Sure enough, they asked him that question and his reply was “My wife told me you would ask that question” LOL

On the subject of justice I was listening to the radio news last night and the first headline was about Baby Paige who lived for 31 days and half of that was spent being tortured, slapped and shaken by her father. She had brain injuries, a fractured skull and internal injuries to her pancreas and liver that led to her death. Plus injuries to her face, arms, legs and ribs.

Her father was sentenced to nine years jail. The offence was declared a “serious violent offence” meaning he will spend at least 80% of those nine years behind bars before being eligible for parole [Whoopie do!

The second headline was about former Billabong CEO who forged his then wife’s signature to access more than $13 million from the Commonwealth Bank.

He was sentenced to eight years jail.

In my humble opinion, there is something seriously wrong there!

On the subject of health, I had bloods taken on Monday and then an appointment with my GP and Heart Coach yesterday.

Total cholesterol on admission to hospital in November was 6.6 mmol/L .. results from Monday down to 3.9

Bad cholesterol [LDL] needs to be below 2 .. scraped in at 1.95 mmol/L

Lost 5.5kgs [12lbs]

GP is happy to leave the next round of bloods until April and Heart Coach does not want to see me until the 16th of March .... on the right track!!

That father should have gotten the death penalty- that was out and out murder
rant.gif

Hey diva I and countless other Australians who are currently disgusted, could not agree more. The death penalty does not exist in Australia. However, life in prison does and regardless of any extenuating circumstances [drug abuse etc] there is no excuse and that is what he should have got!

It really is a good indication of how money is apparently equally or more important than an innocent child's life ... our justice system should hang it's head in shame!

Blooie, so sorry to hear Ken hurt himself. And sorry more will fall on your shoulders. Hope everything is much better soon

BTW, that's a great truck and story. You shouldn't have any trouble selling it (once it's unburied).
