J, thanks for sharing the latest finch pictures! Wow, do they grow fast. Adorable babies and that 2nd shot with the open mouth little one is so cute.

Good luck with the mite fight...makes me itchy just thinking about them. Ugh!

Good morning folks

OHLD Your pond and fish are beautiful!

Blooie While they can be delicate, I have also found pond fish to be quite forgiving. I am surprised ours have lasted as long as they have and we have made some mistakes along the way but they battle on. If it gets much hotter they will be ready to dish up with a side serve of chips!

Looking forward to the pictures of the celebration .. have fun!

J beautiful baby pictures! I love the “feed me!” one.

We suffered a mite infestation, compliments of a visiting bush turkey .. I use Pestene Powder [Sulfur/Rotenone] on the nest boxes and Permethrin on the coop as a preventative. Touch wood, since the infestation a couple of years ago, no reoccurrences and that includes a couple of summers when they can be at their worse.

whoop whoop many thanks for the Beast update. You are not boring me; I thought of him and you quite often yesterday, hoping that all was OK. I am pleased that the Vet was able to clean him up and have everything crossed that he makes a full recovery. Give him a gentle cuddle from me.

N F C thank you for the link .. I had not heard that one and agree it is a wonderful way to welcome the students back.

Many years ago my colleagues and I were given a small ‘Happiness Kit’ by a speaker at one of our Conferences. I have the kit in my office and will continue to refer to it for many years to come.

It is a small red sack with a note attached and contains a piece of string, a rubber band, a marble, a coin, an eraser and a kiss sticker.

The note attached says:

Happiness Kit

A piece of string to tie things together when they fall apart.
A rubber band to stretch yourself beyond your limits.
A marble in case someone says you’ve lost yours.
A coin so you can never say “I’m broke”.
An eraser so you can make your mistakes disappear.
A kiss to remind you that someone cares about you.

I sweated it out in the garden yesterday, mowing, coop cleaning and pottering in the heat and while I was nearly melted and definitely exhausted at the end of the day, I was also very pleased with the results.

Today is housework and grocery shopping and hopefully some quality times with the gals in the garden .. chicken TV!

Stoopid weird Wyoming weather! Last nigh's low, 7. Today's high, 50. Current temp, 39. This following three days of bitter cold and snow! How's a girl supposed to get gussied up if she can't decide between flannel lined jeans or a fancy dress?

Hi Teila!

Every time I read one of your recent posts, I start to feel warmer...maybe there's some sort of heat transference via BYC?

Wonderful Happiness Kit, such a good idea.

After all the work in the heat, you deserve a nice cold whatever, so enjoy!

Maybe you need a flannel lined fancy dress Blooie!

Our weather has been beautiful here today, clear and sunny. I talked to my mom in Cheyenne this morning, they've been housebound for the past 3 days with snowfall on top of ice.

I know they say to be careful what you wish for but please, just for one day, can we swap?!

91.5F predicted for today, 89.5F on Monday, back to 91.5F on Tuesday, Wednesday 89.5F, Thursday 88F, Friday 89.5F and Saturday 93F with no rain, well the slightest chance of may be a shower and overnight minimums not dropping below 73.5F.

We are on the weather seesaw too. Up to almost melting, than back to freezing our knickers off. This is usually March weather, so maybe it being February means we will actually warm up before April this year.

I miss yard work Teila, so do some for me too.

Will do but not until next weekend .. in recovery mode ;)

Seriously, I guess I am lucky in that gardening is doable all year round and if I was stuck indoors, not able to do any, I would probably be whinging about that :D
Don't you have a riding mower to cruise around on? We definitely do with a few acres of lawn. I miss doing that too.

I am always rearing to go until it gets here, spring, than everything hurts too much to do anything anyways.

Tee hee, not sure I could turn a ride-on around on our postage stamp sized lawn

Plus, way too many obstacles scattered here and there to avoid. Our current block is only 623 sqm with a house plonked in the middle:
