The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Somehow I only managed to end up with two pictures of Blooie & me (DH took them) and they are just too awful to share...DH can't take a photo to save his life, lol. Blooie took several so if she has any fit to share, I'll let her do it.

I did draw a picture though!

N F C, gorgeous babies! They are so adorable.

Yes, Sunflour, more handfeeding for me! I found an article someone wrote on BYC about hand rearing a society finch from an egg. They fed hourly during the day from 7.30am - 10.30pm so that's more do-able than every 2 1/2 - 3 hours day and night that everyone else says. But seriously, by the time I've fed them and cleaned up an hour disappears pretty quick! I set up the incubator for them as that will keep them at a more consistent temperature than a heatlamp could. And they are so ridiculously tiny. I'll try and get a photo to show you guys how teeny.

Wait... not even the one sipping our tequila with class and grace - right out of the bottles?

We did have a good time. Debby is just as warm and delightful in person as she is online. And her DH is a hoot! They are doing amazing things with the course and the clubhouse...it's just like they are - warm and friendly! She neglected to tell about the "almost a lunch", but even that was funny! Got a lovely gift bag from Debby, and she even included 3 chocolate bunnies - one each for the grandkids.

So, pictures, huh? Well, this is my friend Debby. We met online. Um, she's a French model. Bon Jour!!

Debby and Frankenfoot, thanks so much for a fantastic morning...next time you get to come up here!

And then we came home to hail, branches down, and 5 dead Silkies. I have no idea what happened to them...no pasty butt, plenty of food and water, MHP nice and warm, and they were all fine when Katie checked on them. I have never had this happen with chicks before, and I'm determined to find out what happened. Makes me so mad!! And of course, they were the tiniest of the group, just like the other 2 that didn't make it. Could be that, coupled with that rough trip, was just too much for them in the end. I hope not - there were 10 out of the 17 that were visibly smaller than the rest. But grrrrrr...Katie is going to be crushed tomorrow.

Blooie & N F C I loved the pictures, thank you so much for sharing. I am pleased you guys had a good time and the club looks awesome!

The picture of the two of you closer up is really nice [pic #8].

Blooie I am so sorry to hear that a wonderful day ended so tragically; what a heartbreaking thing to come home to

I took a couple of hours off today to have some fun with the camera. While the domesticated bird life were apparently not in the mood to pose for pictures, the wild birdlife was .. isn’t he beautiful?

I just took this one because the yellow flowers looked so pretty:

My baby girl sleeping in her 'air' bed and both my babies; Syba in his tower. She loves her air bed and he loves his tower. Sadly this cat tree which we have had for 5 years or so has seen better days and it is not worth trying to move it up to FNQ. We had to reinforce Syba's tower after it fell off. I might see if I can donate it to a cat refuge or similar. Anywho, luckily I was able to find the exact same one still available online so I ordered it and had it delivered to Forrest Beach so, when they arrive, they will have something 'familiar'; besides Dad that is
wink.png
I am also planning to send up their box of toys, some other beds they like and dinner bowls a week before they leave so that they are also there when they arrive. I figure not having them down here for a week will not be so bad if it means they have some familiar things when they arrive.

LOL Diva .. we are enclosing part of the deck for them so they can watch the world go by so yeah, they will kind of have their own room

And, when they have settled in, the whole house will be theirs

The smaller grey tree on the left is definitely passed it’s use by date so not taking that one. As I mentioned, the brown and tan one has been replaced and the pink and blue one on the right has a story behind it and is definitely going with us.

Charlie-Bear [who you might remember was my beautiful dog I lost many years ago] had a favourite chair. After years of her sleeping in it, it was not really suitable as a human-chair but I did not want to part with it. It also seemed silly to keep a big chair which was serving no purpose; so we used the timber from the chair to make that cat tower. Not only do the cats like it; it has sentimental value for me.

Teila, I love the second photo of your cats as Syba is so well camoflaged. There's just those gorgeous eyes staring out from the patch of darkness. And the Rainbow Lorikeet is beautiful. We have a wild flock of Eastern Rosella that live round here and I love seeing them.

Blooie, I'm sorry about your babies. At least Katie didn't have to deal with that, tough as she sounds. The photos of you and Debby were lovely so thanks for sharing them.

My tiddly fnch baby that wasn't looking great has died (I wasn't surprised) but the other two are feeding well.

Here's what I'm dealing with (the middle one is the one that has died):

I'm so scared every time I have to pick one up that I'm going to drop it or squash it! They are ridiculously small.

If they were just abandoned eggs I wouldn't bother trying to save them, but I have to give these guys a chance.

Oh my, so tiny! I hope you are able to save them

Sending positive thoughts your way!

Syba is very difficult to photograph inside, I usually just end up with just eyes

I found a better picture of the cat tower we made out of Charlie-Bears' chair:

Syba and Charlie-Bear when Syba was just a baby:

So, the big cream bed is Syba's and the little blue one is Chimee's .. Chimee is in Syba's bed .. can you see Syba in hers? Trust me, there is a cat in the blue bed lol.

Anyways, I am probably boring everyone and dinner needs to be dished up so I will scoot.
