How did you get awful pictures with such good subjects
Love all the pictures!! Very sorry to hear about your chicksWait... not even the one sipping our tequila with class and grace - right out of the bottles? We did have a good time. Debby is just as warm and delightful in person as she is online. And her DH is a hoot! They are doing amazing things with the course and the clubhouse...it's just like they are - warm and friendly! She neglected to tell about the "almost a lunch", but even that was funny! Got a lovely gift bag from Debby, and she even included 3 chocolate bunnies - one each for the grandkids. So, pictures, huh? Well, this is my friend Debby. We met online. Um, she's a French model. Bon Jour!!![]()

And then we came home to hail, branches down, and 5 dead Silkies. I have no idea what happened to them...no pasty butt, plenty of food and water, MHP nice and warm, and they were all fine when Katie checked on them. I have never had this happen with chicks before, and I'm determined to find out what happened. Makes me so mad!! And of course, they were the tiniest of the group, just like the other 2 that didn't make it. Could be that, coupled with that rough trip, was just too much for them in the end. I hope not - there were 10 out of the 17 that were visibly smaller than the rest. But grrrrrr...Katie is going to be crushed tomorrow.
Good morning folks![]()
Sunflour Thank you for the advice, I posted my question on the ‘managing your flock’ forum. As you said, if there is any concern probably best not to use them and I am swaying towards that conclusion but thought I would post anyways out of interest sake.
Thanks also for the pot and stones tip. We were planning on building them some sort of perch-tree but when I saw the stumps I immediately thought of that use for them.
Glad to hear you are feeling a little better.
N F C Oooh, how exciting! I can’t wait for the pics!
D M C Did you get chicks also? Love the tool box!
I am excited to hear how the meet is going [went … stoopid time difference!] and of course, baby pictures!![]()
Do hard not to~like waiting for a pot to boil!!! Woo Hoo!!!I need hatching vibes right now. Of about 18 Serama eggs that went in on the 20th of last month, there are 4 that are pipped and cheeping, 3 or 4 that are rocking, and a couple more that maybe, maybe, maybe.I have got to stop hovering over that 'bator . . . .![]()
The toes will straighten out by themselves. You could make a hobble for its splayed legs and they'd be fixed in 24 hours. I cut a strip off a bandaid to use. Mine are 3 weeks old today and almost fully feathered.I think my incubator temp drop toward the end was too hard on my eggs. I have 3 babies that are doing well. One that is strong but had splayed legs and curled feet. So far the splayed legs are doing much better after sitting in a medicine cup. I think his little feet will be okay with a little work. I had 1 die in shell last night. I think its little legs and feet were pretty deformed so I'm okay with the outcome. Poor little fella would have been my first brown
I don't see much activity with what is left in the bator. I may float the eggs tonight to check. Now that I know the quirks of the incubator I think my next attempt will turn out much better. I'll give the leftover eggs another day but I think this may be it. I'm trying not to be too sad about it and appreciate the 4 that I do have.
Please be girls!!! Please be girls!!! Please be girls!!!![]()
