The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Morning everyone!

It's hard to get caught up with the posts with the little chicks right next to me, lol. I keep getting caught up watching them. And sometimes I turn around and they're watching me. Blooie, DH secured the heat lamp so it's stable, no worries there. The Wellies are the calmest chicks I've ever had. The Legbars seem to be the source of little mini-dramas throughout the day. And Bobbi wavers between the two, sometimes running around with the Legbars and sometimes chilling with the Welsummers.

Blooie, that's awful about your Silkies. I so hope you don't lose any more. Sorry about the cake issue too (

). Looks like you won't be able to escape with the hubs on one side and the contest on the other, lol.

J, that was brilliant using the fork tine to feed the teenies.

I start work this morning, the golf course opens Saturday. We'll see how long my job stays part-time. Sunflour, our hiring woes seem to be par for the course according to others we've talked to. It was the same in FL too. But we'll make the best of things (and hope for the best outcome).

Need to catch up (and watch the chicks too).

Well, I finished my Edible Easter entry....waiting for it to set up a bit before I move it to the table so I can take pictures of it and get it posted. Right now it's shedding Chia seeds everywhere! But WHEW - it's done.

Maybe you should take pics where it sits.....just in case the move is unpleasant

Just home from my first 1/2 day back to work. The "iffy" employee is now a definite no. We're down to a bartender, a cook, 2 club house employees and me. I don't think the part-time gig is going to be part-time for long.

The good news is things are lining up quickly to open Saturday!

The chicks are doing great. I put a curved piece of 4" diameter plastic tubing in their brooder and 1 of the chicks has been pecking at it...I'm hoping they'll use it as a plaything.

Blooie, I'm running over to the Edible Easter contest to see if your entry is posted yet...looking forward to seeing what you've come up with!

Sorry about the sucky employee. Hopefully someone better will come along soon.

Will have to check out the Easter thread, too!

Blooie, really sorry about the little silkies. Did you let the person you ordered from know?

I'm sorry about your chicks Blooie. You did make me laugh about my 'shopping trip'. I actually almost broke the tine off my fork by getting it tangled in the metal fork I use to mix the formula. I'm wondering if I should send my DH out to get more just in case.

And N F C, sorry about your almost employees, though better to know now than be relying on them to turn up for work! Still frustrating though. What is wrong with people?

I got up at 1am to feed my babies as one hadn't eaten that well at 10pm. Not sure I can do that again as I then couldn't get back to sleep (which is always my biggest problem with getting up in the night), and then I set the alarm for 6am. Now I feel rather droopy and it's only 7.25am! I think I'll just leave them and get up at 4.30am like I did yesterday. I figure proper mental function (sleep) is more essential to me being able to take care of them properly.

Can't wait to see that entry Blooie.

You might want to stock up on plastic forks just in case J. Sure wouldn't want to be awake for a 4:30am feeding only to find yourself without a tine in the house. Proper mental function is definitely important so take care of yourself.

Blooie's entry is so creative (just like we already knew it would be)!
