The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Hi Bunny! Yep, that's the commercial I was referring to :thumbsup

I found a bunch of 'em - apparently, he's been a busy tuber. I knew he was an iconic toy from my childhood, but it looks like he's had a pretty radical makeover for the twenty first century (Potato Head Transformers? Really? Boy, am I out of the loop!)

A busy tuber?

Never heard of a Potato Head Transformer...somehow, that just doesn't seem right. Sort of like the newer Barbie dolls don't seem right.

I still have my 1959 one, complete with b&w one-piece bathing suit and ponytail.

I personally think he came back in style with the whole Toy Story franchise. That's when I first saw the resurgence of Mr. Potato Head and Mrs. Potato Head. Kids see it in a movie and they want it. Lol! Marketing at its best.

Wow! That's just amazing how different she looks now. I always hated Barbie. I was always a my little pony fan. Try not to judge too harshly. Lol!

I was a My Little Pony girl too and my kids play with my old ones as well as the new ones (which look quite different) - son included! There's now a cartoon/anime of My Little Pony and it's really quite good. They enjoy Barbie too - I had a few Barbies but greatly preferred my animal toys to dolls of any kind.

My babies are doing well. I suspect Squeak is a boy, and I suspect the other two out in the aviary are boys too! They are all looking very colourful. Pinkie Pie sure likes producing boys.

(Squeak a couple of days ago)

My Button quail hatched two chicks and I put her other eggs in the incubator as I'd added a few late. Yesterday one tried to hatch but at the wrong end, and it didn't make it. It wasn't cheeping so I didn't hold out much hope. That's the first time I've had a chick pip at the wrong end, not that I've hatched many eggs. I'm still trying to get a good photo of the two she hatched but she's an anxious mother. I'll try adding some things to her cage today to give her a bit of cover and make her feel more secure. Hopefully it won't have the opposite effect and freak her out too much.

I've come to the conclusion that out dove is a boy as he's taken over a food dish, cooed and quivered his wings as he sat there for about a week, no eggs appeared, but now he appears to be nesting all by himself. Someone on the Pigeon/Dove forum suggested I give him a couple of quail eggs. That I can do! We have a little quail out in the aviary who has just started sitting on her eggs. I'm pretty sure they'll be infertile as she's still living with her parents (and Buttons tend to be monogamous), but one of our girls inside seems to be a serial layer but not a sitter. So I've put 12 of her eggs in the incubator (and she's still laying more!) and near hatching time I'll swap them out, so our Dilly Dove (formally Tilly) can have a couple of those. It's supposed to get chilly over the next few nights (we'll probably have a frost or two) so I'll wait awhile longer before giving him any.

And let's not forget Pickle who is still full of life and determination!

Been a busy couple of days...we did 2 tournaments back to back, lots of participants which was good!

Today was the last day for the 2 college kids that having been doing most of the cooking. Tomorrow I'll be the full-time one, a bit nervous about having to fix 2 meals a day for the remainder of the season but the slower season is starting.

J, thanks for the update on all your little birds!
