The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Yay, you enjoy those days off! How are your new(er) girls doing...any signs of eggs yet?

We leave the barriers out and the big coop side door open full time now - overall getting along, but doubt they two groups will ever be "friends". The littles do explore and sit on the roosts in there, but sleep in the small coop. Have been trying to figure out how to get them all to use the big coop without discord.

No eggs yet, they are maturing, but not quite old enough yet. Road Runner (now 4.5 years old) still laying 3 days, off one, 3 days, etc.

Is your Wellie laying yet?

No eggs from the Wellie yet but I've been told they take a while, like maybe 6 months or so. Mine is only close to the 5 month mark. Her eggs will be easy to spot, she's the only brown egg-layer and all the others are laying blue :p

Glad your's are getting along, that makes it less stressful (for you, lol).

Thanks for info - if mine wait til they are 6 months old, then we should have them moved into the "real" coop by then :)

August is generally hot and dry here too. It has been getting a bit dry recently though.

I love the cooler temperatures we have been having.

Please send some of that rain our way and don't use up that front, I'd rather not water the garden. We are supposed to get some rain by morning if there's any left.
Wish I could send rain your way!! We got another 1.5 inches overnight and it's still raining. I love fall and the cool temps but this is too early as far as crops go.

We only make hay these days. We do buy corn and feeds, so we definitely count on a good harvest to keep prices low so we can comfortably afford my hobbies. Here the corn has been growing well, but the ears are just forming, so you are right we need a bit more heat. I'm sure we aren't done yet, it's just a matter of not getting a frost before the heat.

Good morning!

OHLD, congrats on the tube removal. That should help make you more comfortable, glad to hear you're taking it easy!

J, sunflour is right, Squeak's colors are so pretty. Looking forward to seeing Pickle's feathers!

What's everyone doing this weekend? Hope you all have a good one
Thank you. I am doing nothing today, except the usual vacuuming, which I got cleared to resume doing, yay, and some animal feeding.

Our county fair is this coming week. We will go on Wednesday to look at the chickens, like I don't have enough of my own, and to eat some greasy foods. I can't decide between a funnel cake or elephant ears, can't eat both, oh and maybe some deep fried cheese curds. :drool

News Flash...stay tuned for this important announcement (can I get a drum roll please)

DH just put up a sign saying the restaurant will be closed on Sundays, which means I get Sundays off! :wee

What a guy! Great surprise to me, he said it was a gift. I'll say, lol. Whoop :celebrate
