The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Hi Debby...beans aren’t done yet. The one farm I don’t know if he’ll be able to get as it’s still very wet. He’s got both boys out in the field tonight helping. I went out with him last night for a ride and I’ll go one more time when he does corn. I love fall harvest! I’ve heard talk of snow by the end of October which would be a disaster.

Hoping harvest can be over before the weather interferes. Glad the boys are there to help out!

@JaeG those are some cool looking bird babies! The white ones have such different coloring, will they pretty much stay that color? Love how the 2 you're keeping want to ride on your shoulders, sounds like they've bonded well. Is the Lutino the one in the first picture? Pretty!

Veronica and I aren't feeling a lot of love here. I think you are biased. ;)

Veronica is asleep at the moment but tomorrow I am going to tell her she better get on that first egg or be SHAMED!

Thanks for the comment, I missed NFC's post and have printed the pic to place it in the coop :D

J your birds are beautiful - I envy your daughter, looks like so much fun to have them running around inside :)

Yep, I only have one Wellie. The other 4 girls I have all lay blue eggs.

Oh that's awesome! I had no idea they laid such different eggs. Now I want one lol well, I did before but now I really do. Between that and a Delaware hah I know for sure I want Speckled Sussex and Wyandottes. And a Partridge Rock. Maybe I'll skip the Wyandottes and add both the Delaware and Wellie hah

I don't think I can add more now though, the coop's not really big enough, but maybe eventually.

I have 8

And I have a blue layer and a green/olive layer (both Easter Eggers, I'd love an official olive egger or ameraucana) and she used to lay pretty deep blue or like sky blue but now they're kinda white

The lutino is the yellow one my daughter is holding. She'll be all yellow with orange cheeks and red eyes. I love the white ones too. They are called whiteface cinnamon reverse pearl pieds. They are definitely girls so will keep their pearl pattern on the wings whereas boys lose it as they molt and mature. The cinnamon refers to the lighter, warmer grey on their wings which is gorgeous.

Yes, they are a lot of fun and wonderful time wasters which is why my house looks like a bomb hit it! My DD is a great help and I'm not sure I could do it without her.

I'm looking forward to seeing some photos of beautiful eggs soon! I have an Orpington who lays speckled eggs and I love them, but she lays about 10 before going broody when the weather is warm enough (she's currently broody)!

Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to the big smoke we go!

Two hours of Syba singing 'I do not want to be in this crate' and that is just one way! Might be different on the way back if they have to sedate him for the tests.

The first time we took him down as an emergency, we were sent away for an hour while they performed tests but obviously, we were too distraught to think about shopping. Same when we went to get him, just needed to get him home ASAP. While I love Syba dearly, because I know we will be bringing him home with us, I kind of hope that they send us away for an hour again because I really want to pick up a new pillow while we are in town. I could do it with Syba in the car but he dislikes it so much so we do not prolong the trip or stop unless we have to.

In town and no shopping is just teasing me ;)

Anyways, it is not about me and today, pretty much like every day, is all about Syba! :love

Wish us luck with the results!

I know how you feel, we had to take Buddy on two 1.5 hours drive twice this past year for dental extractions.....but he was there for hours and I did get to do some antique/flea market shopping during our waits
