The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

@Teila you did all you could to find the lost dog's family. Hopefully the chip will work to find his home, and if not that, then the shelter find him a good family.

That's crazy the message you got from Target! I'd have been fuming with that response. I'm glad you let them know how you felt.

I hope you find something special with your gift card for the holiday party!

Tee hee N F C I was fuming with their response  Which is rare for me ;)

I forgot to mention with Coffy that the AC guy said that she was not a ‘regular’ and he had not seen her before which, in a small village, could have been likely. No one responded to the Found Dog on the community page either :(

I do hope that her owners are found and that some :duc did not just dump her. Besides being exhausted, she looked pretty good, nice coat, weight and teeth etc. The collar was a bit tight though. While she was friendly enough with me, she seemed drawn to the fella's [hubby and AC guy] even more so and I am thinking she has/had a Dad.

Anyways, I will let you know if I hear any more.

Hey Peeps :hugs

I have to go shopping this weekend for something to wear to the work Christmas Party. I do not usually like clothes shopping and pretty much live in shorts and T-shirts [baggy and ordered online] but having dropped nearly 20kg [44lbs], time to buy myself something nice to wear. Plus, I have a $50 gift card that I won in a raffle at the market a couple of months ago burning a hole in my pocket ;)

DMC Wow! I am pleased Hattie is OK and it was not more serious! Yes please, I would love a piece of that yummy looking pie! :drool

Aaaw Jae I hope you feel better soon! Sometimes it can all seem to hit you at the same time :hugs

N F C Woo hoo .. congrats on the fish and having a lovely weekend!

Target are definitely not my favourite people at the moment .. their Christmas Ad is annoying the *&(% out of me. Every ad break it comes on :he and 5 more weeks of it! I had a mini vent about it on FB and a friend of mine then tagged me on the Target FB page where the ad was being discussed. I voiced my opinion to which Target Australia replied “Teila, I am sure you will come around it to”. Talk about poking the bear .. I have no intention of “coming around to it” and told them so, along with the fact that I was interested that they presumed to know me and that their response had extended the amount of time I felt it would be until I needed to shop in Target again :p

Only one bit of ‘news’ from me. Last night on my bike ride I encountered a lost dog. She was just running everywhere, in a panic, breathing heavily and pretty much near to exhaustion. She looked like a Corgi x Staffy so I nicknamed her Coffy ;) Anyhow, I managed to score a piece of rope to act as a lead from one of the locals who also gave her a drink of water on their front lawn and then I took her home, asking everyone along the way if they had seen her before. I posted her picture on our community site and after she had settled down a bit, took her for another walk down to the beach to see if she wanted to go anywhere in particular, again asking everyone I saw if they had seen her before or knew her owners; no luck and she still seemed to not know where she wanted to go and just pulled in any and all directions. So, back home we went but sadly, because of the chickens, cats and Jessie the dog, we had no way of keeping her here overnight and had to ring animal control to come and get her. Hubby works at the Council [local Government] so he knew the animal control guy and will be able to find out if her owners are found. She was wearing a collar, no tag but the AC guy scanned for a microchip and she had one but he did not have access to the database at the time to check the number against the records.

Anyways, I left for my bike ride at 04:45PM and finally ‘settled’ for the evening and dinner at 07:30PM. Sometimes I wish I did not care but I could not leave her running around the village panicked and at risk of getting run over or just dropping from exhaustion :(

Hopefully the microchip will help to reunite her with her owner.

See Teila, i knew you were nice! Probably some jerk dropped her off because they got tired of feeding her! We used to see that a lot in TN.
I hope she gets a better home!

You sure seem to have a knack for finding lost animals! Lol

Hope she finds her owner

And while it's possible she was dumped, if she was in good condition and someone went through the trouble of microchipping her, it's possible she just got loose. Maybe someone left a gate open or she got loose on a walk (although weird if she had a collar on), etc. etc. Or could be a new rescue that got scared and ran off. Happens sometimes. However that said if the A.C. guy had never seen her, especially in a small village, she could have been dumped :( although usually if they do that they would probably take the collar off so they can't be found? SO. It is also possible she came from far away, which might explain why she was so exhausted. Sometimes dogs (or even cats) can get lost and go miles away. So be sure to check surrounding towns/communities too. Some dogs travel like hundreds of miles lol that's pretty extreme and rare but can happen and they can travel just a few miles more commonly. Or speaking of that, it's possible they were on vacation or a hike, etc. etc. And got loose and is then miles from home which might explain why the A.C. guy didn't recognize her

I placed a dog once and the silly people had a party the same day they adopted her. People were running in and out of the house, and the dog ran away. I was quite pregnant at the time and very upset. Walked all over looking for her. A troop of boy scouts found her and located me through the Canadian Kennel club. She did not go back to those people.

Yeah, I do seem to attract the lost ones and we were having a chuckle about that last night. In Brisbane, I 'found' two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels in my yard but luckily they had tags with a phone number and the owner was so pleased to get them back, a tradesman having left the gate open. Then there was the Lemon Border Collie [neglected] who I did not want to return to it's owner and told the RSPCA that. Just recently there was Omu and now Coffy .. I think, being an animal lover, I probably notice more than some people and where some people on the beach would have ignored Coffy and left her to run, panicked, I couldn't do that.

That is a good point and I do wonder if she is not local then she could have jumped or fallen off a ute etc, been lost by a tourist [we have a few of those].

Dog's and I think all animals have an extraordinary sense of who can be trusted. I used to get in trouble when greeting new arrivals. My place in line was just in front of the working dogs and handlers. I'd have my hands behind my back and next thing you know, there's a nose in my hands looking for a chin scratch. The officer handling the dog would always yell at me, and my answer was I didn't start it.:lau One of those dogs saved my life one night and I really broke protocol. She got a big hug, lots of scratching and a steak.

One of the Shelties i bred and sold to a priest saved him from a fire one night when he was sleeping. He was reluctant to get a dog since he had no experience with one , but needed to keep the sheep out of the garden. Needless to say, he ended up a very happy owner.
