The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I placed a dog once and the silly people had a party the same day they adopted her. People were running in and out of the house, and the dog ran away. I was quite pregnant at the time and very upset. Walked all over looking for her. A troop of boy scouts found her and located me through the Canadian Kennel club. She did not go back to those people.
Some people need special kinds of dogs!

Some people just do not listen. I told them she was going to take time to adapt and though she was obedience trained, if she got scared she could get out and run. Lots of Shelties are like that. She was an adult dog in a new place. She needed time to adapt.

People are silly sometimes. It is hard for them to understand that there are differences in temperament to consider.

It would be best to avoid a loud party anytime you get a new pet though. Seems like common sense...lacking with them though!

You know what they say about common sense...it's not all that common

I remember when DW brought my avatar home. She was terrified. Apparently her original owner dumped her, her brother and her mom when he got a mixed breed. Throughout her life, I only heard her cry once (electric fence) when she was awake but she would cry in her sleep. When she wouldn't quit shaking, DW put her on my shoulder and she curled up and went to sleep. We named her prancer because her paws were so big for her little body that the only way she could move without tripping over herself was to prance or jump. I really miss her.:hit

Dogs are so special! All they ask is to be with us, fed, and loved! What a deal!

I've had a LOT of dogs in my lifetime. There is one that I still tear up over, and he has been dead for 40 + years. Just made myself tear up as I typed this. Silly old man.
