The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Your cat is so beautiful!

I've had fun getting one of my cockatiel chicks to eat the formula. It has been stubbornly refusing! I've got it to eat a little out of an eye dropper as it really doesn't like the spoon, even though the other three are going crazy for it. Usually the others eating (competition) is enough to get a reluctant one eating but not this time. I'm getting two more chicks tomorrow and one is already reserved as they wanted a particular colour. They are so adorable! Even though it's a lot of work I love it.

My finches are now growing like weeds now that they are actually eating. They are just starting to get pin feathers on their wings and their eyes are open. Still ugly though! They can yell pretty loud now too. And right on cue they are telling me it's time to eat!
More pictures please! What do you make formula from or do you buy it?

Well they have to get used to it! First just plug it in when he is in the room. Sit near the dryer and feed him treats so he gets distracted from the noise. After he learns to ignore the noise, put a leash and collar on. Have treats in hand and have someone blow the dryer a on his butt. Then at the same time give him a treat and tell him good boy. Or put him in a cage and blow on him with it if no helper. He will get used to it.

Hmm, that's true! I hadn't thought about getting him used to it! Although he's also so big it would take forever to dry him haha he hates vacuum cleaners. He's gotten a little better where he doesn't immediately run if it's already on and in the room but he runs as soon as you get it out and he does get nervous when it's near him. But then again my dad used to use it to get him off the bed which did not help hah

Anyway, we usually just either let him lay in the sun a few hours (though then he could potentially roll) or dry him off with a towel well and then he dries off on his own eventually. Being half Lab he dries pretty quickly usually. Although it's funny, he gets kind of this fluffy/wonky looking "afro" appearance for a few days after. Like his hair is humid or frizzy or something? It'll be totally dry but just look at weird LOL then he dries out fully or gets his oils or guard hairs back or whatever and looks normal again. Maybe a drier would speed the process aha

Morning all :frow

@Teila great deal on the clothes!

@KDOGG331 good luck getting the mites cleared up. Just talking about it makes me itch.

@DigMyChicks what are you going to do with all that lefse?

@sunflour I would guess all that singing means they're all getting closer to eggs? Sort of like tuning up.

Another cold, windy day here but I'm not going anywhere so that's ok.

Hope you all have a good one!

Good morning Debby and all. I made some for a friend, some for us here and the rest for Thanksgiving at my nephews so it won’t last long.

Ya know why the hens false cackle?.....it is to keep the rooster off their back....:lau :lau

You know, we can hear a rooster - I don't know how far away he is but I can only hear him on a very quiet day outdoors....for sure my gals can hear better than I and are responding to him?? :idunno....but I think they are just teasing me :D

Gee that's what my hair looks like when it dries on it's own ;)

Good morning, Chat Folk, have I mentioned that I REALLY hate the wind ?

Than WY would not be a good place for you Sour! It kicks up every day here, it just varies in intensity. It gets downright scary when it blows the semi's over on the highway. It kind of puzzled me when we first moved here to say things like "don't say the w word"...people around here have a healthy respect for the "w".
