@Teila neither one of those repairs should cost near that much, unless things are very expensive down under.....might would be if the overheating warped the head tho....water pumps are fairly cheap, in the $20-40 range, but the radiator could be in the hundreds if ya replace with a brand new one....sometimes ya can save some bucks on a used, recored one.....:)

@sunflour :lau :gig

Thanks all!

@CntryBoy777 Sadly, I think things are way more expensive down under :( The RACQ guy [auto club] was thinking at least $300 to $400 depending on the actual issue. I do not think we ‘cooked’ it as it still runs well and it warned us [electronic] that it was hot and we stopped immediately and added water. ‘Cooking’ it is one of the reasons I am reluctant to even drive it to the mechanic and he is coming here first to see if we should tow it.

Fingers crossed the head is not warped or cracked cos then we will be talking $1,000’s

Sorry dear, that does sting the pocketbook!

We all need to laugh:
This afternoon DH came in with a BO egg :jumpy. He was quite excited since Lillie has not laid an egg in over a year........and then......I reminded him, he put a fake egg in a nest early this am....and guess what :lau....it was the faker egg. Guess he was somewhat asleep this morning when I asked him to place the ceramic egg in a nest to try to get Debby to move to the big coop nest. :gig But both Debby and Violet laid in the juvenile coop nest today...so guess the faker egg scared Violet to make the move. :barnie

OMG!!! :lau

Although admittedly I have made that mistake before! The ceramic ones look and feel A LOT like real ones, they did a good job. One time I collected them all and then I had SUCH a hard time telling them apart I literally had to candle them to figure it out :lau and then after that I put X's on them so I would never make that mistake again. But of course now I don't use them because Penny kept going broody and stealing them. But they were good to get them to use more than one dang box lol

But of course now Penny is gone :hit

Which reminds me, I never let her raise babies all those times but thought if she was so persistent about it then maybe I should SO if she went broody again in the spring I was going to actually give her some fertile eggs or baby chicks to raise. Now that'll never happen. :hit

@KDOGG331 I'm sorry about your Penny. Why is it always our favourites who die too young?!

@Teila Sorry about your car! It costs a ridiculous amount down here too. My DH's father was a mechanic but wanted 'better things' for his sons. He made my DH get an Engineering degree (which he didn't want to do, didn't persue a career in, but the things learnt have come in handy sometimes). My DH really wishes his Dad had taught him everything he knew about being a mechanic!

Here are my little slugs all full of food and still yelling their heads off:

I had to find them a bigger nest today as they'd outgrown the old one.

And my two new cockatiel chicks who both took to the food immediately, following the older ones lead:

I've got my difficult baby eating well out of an eye dropper thankfully. It seems to like being fed by itself too. Nothing like being fussy!

Amazing!

What was that whooshing sound you just heard? Us, dodging a bullet! ;) The mechanic has just rung and it looks like the culprit is a couple of leaking heater hoses, replacements for which are on their way up from our closest major city and should be here tomorrow lunch time along with a new radiator cap, replacement of which is apparently pretty standard. Replace the hoses, flush out the system and add some new coolant, test run and hopefully home without having to replace the radiator or water pump etc :fl

Jae adorable babies! Well, the muppets anyway :p
