The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

When my parents came home from the hospital after my little sister was born, mom slipped on the sidewalk as she was carrying the baby. Mom's feet went out from under her, the baby flew out of her arms and landed in a deep snowbank head first. Good thing they'd had a lot of snow that year!

(And you can bet my brother and I had a lot of good times teasing our little sister with that story!)

WOW lucky!

For sure a guardian angel was watching over your little sister & kept your mom from a bad injury also. :hugs

Yupppp.

Definitely! Good thing sis was a winter baby and not a summer one. And lucky for mom too :)

Except your mom wouldn't have slipped on ice in the summer ;)
You sister is lucky, she can blame EVERYTHING on landing on her head as a very young infant :D

Oh yeah, someone higher up knows something got FUBARed. What do you bet the developers said "it will take this long" and management said "do it in less time". There was once a 2nd level on a big project with a sign on his desk that said something like "There is never enough time to do it right the first time but there is always time to do it over". Presumably a suggestion that enough time SHOULD be given the FIRST time. No surprise he was pushing the schedule, things did not go well when the project was "finished on time".

"Hello, this is Teila, how can I help you?"
"Did you open a ticket?"
"No? Well I am not allowed to work on anything that isn't officially logged first and everything must be done in the order received. You may talk to my manager if you like. Have a good day."

Sorry, nothing I've ever looked into.

Maybe because you don't have to go to the school bus anymore?

Yeah, no ice in summer.

And okay well thanks anyway Bruce! I'll keep Googling. I think I've found some but of course you can't tell how good they are online or how close they are to where we're going. I know there's a lot in NH but I think there's good ones in VT too.

We might be going to Bolton Valley for Christmas but my brother and his girlfriend want to me home for Christmas...

But he's 27 and they've been dating 2 years and living together since the summer so it's understandable why they wouldn't want to hang with the family hah

Although personally I feel VT is much better and much prettier but oh well.

Anyway, long story short, we're either not going OR we'll stay and they can just come back early. I much prefer that approach.

I was living in FL on 3acres and would actually prefer to still be there, but with the heart attack and leg injury we lost all that we had, so moved up here to Mom&Dad's place.....I was born in Homestead, FL....so, I did move north, but still considered south.....:lau

Been through Homestead many times!

Yep, moved north but it's still the south. Sort of like when I moved from the Keys to north FL...moved north but still in the south :) I liked living in the south. No place is perfect but it was nice to live someplace imperfect but warm!

Is it any colder further north?

My son has been dabbling in the world of cryptocurrency mining. Apparently, one of the more popular platforms has had a problem today, and their servers are down. Their customers are tweeting things like, "hurry up, guys, it's getting cold in here;" can you believe these people are heating their apartments with the waste heat from their electronics?

And apparently Agway does carry some decent stuff too, according to the site, but that one I posted possibly seems better.

I guess I'll have to go in store and look myself or ask. Or maybe even call the above website when it gets a bit warmer.

I found stuff on Amazon too, surprisingly, but it's definitely more expensive. But they have everything! Hahah

Of course I think it's too cold to plant here now? Even though it was like 50-55 and raining yesterday and maybe today.

But apparently people use this stuff and mixes like the below link for cover crops in gardens? I didn't realize that was a thing but reading the descriptions, it does seem beneficial? I wonder if it would help my vegetable garden? Probably too late to plant now though but I think it says you can plant in spring too.

Yeah probably too late to plant now @KDOGG331, I think you need it to be decently started before it goes dormant for the winter. It would likely sprout in the spring but wouldn't have much time to grow before being turned under.

I suspect these mining rigs outgrew towers a long time ago.
Most likely. I would guess "serious" miners would have quite a few pretty powerful computers. Not my thing :D
