The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Jae isn't this summer in New Zealand? Sounds like global cooling to me. I know we are having a very cold winter early. Usually the 0 and below temps come in January. Talk on BYC is that many areas are seriously cold.

It's supposed to be summer but it's usually cool here up until January. The recent hot, dry weather is very unusual, especially when it started in November. Now this little cold spell - crazy! It's supposed to warm up again and they are still promising rain for us at the beginning of the year.

I found Easter lollies in the pantry yesterday. It did make me wonder where the year has gone! And yes, my pantry desperately needs a clean out!

A little bird (thank you @penny1960 ) reminded me that today is @CapricornFarm birthday...soooooo...

Stay away from the "wheel of fortune".
If you want to play for the longest amount of time before running out of money, play the roulette wheel and bet on red or black. I think the odds of winning are 48% and the best odd of winning other than games that take some knowledge and thought. ;)

I actually won my hundred on wheel of fortune!

My brother loves roulette and is usually pretty lucky. Except last night and a little today he was kind of stupid cause he got up really high then kept playing and lost it all

Been a LONG time since I've been to a casino. Actually it was on my way here from So. Cal in 1979. I decided I would quit when I lost $50. Did so, went to bed, got up and drove another 8 hours.

I don't think I could bring myself to drop $5 in a machine let alone $20.

That's actually not that much sadly. $5 gets you practically nowhere these days and the machines don't even accept $1's :(

Plus I won $101 so I was up like $85.

A lot of the machines now are 50 cent or $1 minimums but then they do still have a lot of 25 cent ones and 1 cent but even on some of the 1 cents the minimum bet is like 60 cents which I think is kind of deceiving....

But yeah.

Sadly, $5 in todays casino is nothing unless you're REALLY lucky.

That said, I put a $10 in one machine and got up to $55. I got down to $50 then cashed out.

I'm pretty lucky and usually don't play much and win a lot. And cash out when I win. This time though while I did cash out on big wins, I also spent a lot.

I think I ended up winning like $150 but spent some so now I'm probably at $120. I shouldn't have played today. We did the stores and i went to two machines after. I actually did break even and normally would have cashed out but then i kept playing and lost it.

I think I still have a $60 voucher somewhere I thought. But maybe i cashed it

There's a casino in Riverton we like to go to...neither of us gamble but one of the restaurants there has THE best lobster - huge, always cooked perfectly, and not real expensive. We had to make a trip down there while Jamie was home on leave from the Navy one year, so we took him with us. Now, remember that we raised Jamie, and he definitely wasn't raised to drop money into another person's hand So we're walking through the casino to get to the restaurant (they do that on purpose!) and he stopped and pulled some money out of his wallet.

"I'm gonna try this just this one time, Gramma."

"I'm not sure that's a good idea, Jamie," I told him. "But it's your money, I guess."

He eagerly picked out a machine that 'looked like a good one' and sat down in the chair.

I shrugged my shoulders and said, "Jamie, never bet your money on another man's game."

He dropped a dollar in the machine. I pointed out where the restaurant was and told him we'd go get a table and wait for him, but not for long.

He came strutting into the Red Willow with $200.00 he didn't have when we parked the car, and still had all of his "seed money" besides. <sigh> "Okay, Jamie," I told him. "You were right. As a reward for your persistence, you get to buy dinner."

Wow impressive!

Sadly I don't think that would happen now!

Most machines don't accept ones, at least at this casino, which admittedly is quite a large one, and I'm sure they rig it so you LOSE.

:lau And I bet you added a couple of items to your order too didn't you Blooie ;)

Of course winning the first time is REALLY bad if someone is prone to addiction. I hope Jamie wasn't one of them.

Nope. He said "I came, I saw, I conquered, now I get while the gettin's good!" And yes, I enjoyed the extra shrimp cocktail! teehee

That's good!

We stayed up for the new year of 2000 to see what would happen... we could have gone to bed. We had a good time with my sister and her husband playing Yahtzee though.

I wish for 8 hours of that.

I’ve been in 2 casino’s and didn’t spend anything. The addiction I saw in the people there scared me.

Many years ago my father, mother & brother went to Vegas (drove) my mother got hooked on a - maybe nickel machine- don't know, wasn't there. But they said she would not leave. My father and brother had to lift her out of the chair and carry her off. Never knew she had that in her. :gig

I don't even buy lotto tickets. The promotion says how playing lotto is so much fun. Horse hockey, it's only fun if you WIN!!

I've had close encounters with 2 people addicted to gambling, one was a good friend and the other was my ex. No way would I consider going into a casino any more, it's not fun, it's just sad.

Yeah, addiction can be scary. I think my mother is obe of those addicted to gambling, including lottery tickets. We don't go to casinos that much but she buys tons of lottery tickets.

Ah, a gift that keeps on giving...

Were you there for the food?

Nope! Well, we did eat there. But we also gambled haha

It was my parents, my brother and his girlfriend, and myself. We stayed overnight but they stayed in the hotel right in the place and we stayed at one like 5 minutes away and took the shuttle.

But this place is also huge so lots of restaurants and stores!

We went to the casino part yesterday and stayed a while and then did the shops today. And just a little bit of the casino. And last night we went to this good restaurant but I couldn't eat mine cause I was sick :( I think it was all the smoke in the casino plus all the walking and casinos are also stuffy and hot. That or it was food poisoning from the gas station sandwich i had before we went in haha then today we had johnny rockets but it was sooo crowded

I do not gamble at casinos - I people watch. The Princess likes roulette and some machines but has a 'set amount' she allows herself to lose. When she reaches a certain level of winning she cashes in and walks away. My addictive nature wouldn't allow me to do that.
