Isn't that always the way? Gotta sign up for the insurance in Oct or Nov, find out in Jan that you need work. We paid full freight for BOTH DD's orthodonture for just that reason. HUGE bucks.Good insurance! He’s going to look into dental insurance. He’s had such good teeth he didn’t take it out through the company he works for.
take a job in a local steal mill
Do you hate the dentist or his rates??Can I clearly state that I HATE THE DENTIST!
Sounds like you might want to get a second opinion from a cheaper dentist. Probably still need the fillings but maybe not so expensive??My son went to the dentist yesterday and had 5 cavities. He’s never had one. They quoted him $1242 and they are just tiny little surface cavities. This dentist is building a brand new “mansion” and is getting a reputation for charging too much too pay for his house. The xrays and cleaning were $170 with a 5% discount for paying that day. Craziness!
A friend recommended he check out another dentist. Her family goes to the same one and they are finding somewhere else...She used to be a dental assistant.Isn't that always the way? OK, now that is JUST TOO FUNNY a typo!

We found a new Dentist too. My Youngest DD kept having teeth filled at every visit. The last time she was supposed to need three fillings. The new Dentist has yet to fill a tooth! He did have to fix one of the other Dentists fillings with a root canal though. She was only 12 at the time too.A friend recommended he check out another dentist. KD you've given me a relive through my college years. Transfer credit was critical as we had multiple universities offering classes. I got my degree on active duty in the military. We had parallel classes in Germany and Spain based upon our deployment schedule so if you were in a calculus class in Germany, the same class on the same schedule was in Spain. So if we deployed, we just continued in the other class in Spain.
Let me preface this with that some will vehemently disagree with me. In the end your goal is to be DG... (done graduated). All a four year degree does is demonstrate your ability to learn. Some programs teach some common skills that are useful in the workplace like computer science. But as a rule, it just doesn't matter.
A little about me... My high school counselor told me I was too dumb to go to college and that I should just take a job in a local steal mill. I pretty much failed out of Purdue's engineering program—but that wasn't out of knowledge, it was about maturity. Today I say that I majored in party 101 at Purdue. I was an 18 year old guy with raging hormones all alone on a campus with a ratio of 13 girls for every guy. Who knew that girls had raging hormones too?
Fast forward... Went back to school in Germany when the boss kind of made it impossible not to. Imagine my surprise when I graduated from the #1 aeronautical university on the planet with a 4.0 GPA. You can also imagine how fun it was to point that out to the HS counselor who said I was too dumb for college.
My point to all this is do what you enjoy. If its fun, it's easier to learn. If you really like psyc and sociology, and would like some expert mentor ship, I can try to hook you up with a young lady I call doogy houser... She had her Phd's in Psychology and Psychiatry before she was old enough to drink. She was more than happy to help DD through some of her Phyc classes. Not sure how many more times I can ring that bell, but would be happy to do it for you. Might work, might not. Katie has kids now and her own practice that keeps her busy, so who knows.
After reading many of your posts, you're super judgmental of yourself. Don't be. Relax and enjoy your time in life. Do what makes you happy. It will all workout as life goes on... And I really hope you have fun with these new classes.
X2
hmmmm Last visit for DW and I was $24K... Can I clearly state that I HATE THE DENTIST!
Looks amazing
My aunt used to say "A BA stands for bugger all".You are spot on!
Often times a BA or BS is a paper cut for a job. Those with one move on while the applications of those without go into the recycle bin.
Like you posted, It does not matter too much what the degree is in
Thanks! That's really helpful and nice of you. And that is awesome you ended up doing so well! I can't believe they actually told kids that though!!
Anyway, I think I could probably do it, but I have this bad habit of not doing the work now so i just need to work on it I guess.
And thanks for the offer! But actually, the psych ones are the easy, fun ones. It's interesting plus he's chill and fun and gives like no work and usually answers to tests ha TECHNICALLY I should have been reading the books but I didn't and he doesn't make you and now I regret it because it's really interesting but maybe I could find them and buy them somewhere. they are expensive though as are the courses so i shoulda read. Anyway, i almost wish he had made us read cause now idk if I'm prepared for the other ones. But that's on me.
And he is really helpful and friends with the students ha like a lot of people including myself are FB friends.
And helps people find jobs and do research and stuff so it's cool and sometimes we do trifolds or presentations at events here instead.
So i guess actually thats more the work. He doesnt try to trick you or have stupid useless stuff, he tries to more so real world helpful job finding stuff.
So I'm set with that one. It's the core requirements ones that im unsure about.
Speaking of which, i wish i could take fun ones but sadly the school requires everyone to take certain classes and I never took them. Hah
And idk that it will be fun. It's a lot of work, 3 reading intensive classes, and the one with all the homework, but I think i can manage.
I think i am making myself nervous. I don't think they will be hard, i think im fairly smart and capable of the work, but there is a lot of it (work).
And thank you! I try not to be but I guess I've just had a lot of people say I'm annoying, talk too much, annoying cause I jump around too much/make my stories too long/don't get to the point (sometimes all 3 said by one), don't have my own opinions and just change my mind to fit, etc. etc. So I guess I just kind of prepare and apologize in advance now cause I know, or rather expect, someone is going to say something about it. Plus it's not like they're wrong. I've also had a few people just stop being my friend or one say i do some stuff for attention. Plus I've never really had great self esteem to begin with ha even in grade scholl when wed write those letters to next years teachers, id always add or start with I'm noy very good at math etc.
I once had a root canal done with an infection in the tooth so pain killer was ineffective. The dentist just kept drilling with tears rolling down my face! I am overdue for a check upGood Morning Friends
KD I am pleased to hear you got some sleep, even if it does not feel like it. That does sound like a full on study plan. I over slept 15mins this morning because it was dark with the cloud cover and I did not want to get up
sunflour I hope you enjoyed your day off. The chicken yard is looking great!
Aaaw, adorable bubbies Jae!
N F C I confess to not having been to the Dentist for many, many years. I hope the news is good and nothing major required.
I have always feared the Dentist since I was a child. The reason was that back when I was in school, a Dentist injected the anaesthetic in to my gum; waited and then asked if I could feel what he was doing, I said I could and he injected some more anaesthetic, waited and asked if I could feel it, I said yes but I do not think he believed me. I wonder if the anaesthetic was old or he had not given enough but I experienced pain and felt the drilling etc. I remember squirming in the chair and crying but he kept going. Understandably, since then, Dentists are not on my list of favouritesI have seen a Dentist twice in 40 years!
32mm [1.25 inches] of rain overnight with more predicted today and the chance of a tropical storm. Current humidity is 85%.
Remember FIL’s swollen foot? Still swollen and he has just asked me to make him a doctor’s appointment
Blooie as you mentioned, I have just kept an eye on it and while concerned, I have not mentioned it again. I have noted that he has been displaying signs that he is not feeling so good and I am pleased that he has finally decided to go to the doctors; sadly the appointment is a week away though.
