There was a local 7 year old that was treated for influenza and strep and sent home. He died. What an awful disease!

I think I heard 37 children have died from influenza?? I just read a little of that story of the boy who died from your state. Very sad!

We are still sweltering in the heat and our poor eel in the stormwater culvert down the back are miserable. They desperately need some rain to cool them down. The water has stopped flowing and a few little fish have died. One big eel was so hot he was mostly out of the water up the big pipe that brings the water from the road. It must've been cooler in there than in the water! I've found a few with their heads out the water as there can't be as much oxygen in the water now that it's not moving and more like a spa.

We have finally moved Luvy and Valentine (the first little finch chicks I hand reared after their silly parents abandoned them) into the aviary. Despite not being let out of their cage for ages they are still as friendly as ever (unlike Tiny Terror who is out there too now) and come flying over to see me every time I go into the aviary.

Hey KD as I am just about to finish work and have chores to do before the rain, I will leave you to yack with Cap but I just wanted to say that I hope all is OK

No froggy in the window today; today I have a gecko who is hiding in the sliding window tracks. As the catio is not screened, I get flies in the office occasionally and Mr Gecko now has a fully belly! He just lies in wait until one lands on the office screen and yum!
