There are many kinds of cinnamon that you can buy. I did not realize that until the mother of a friend of DD1's took me to a spice shop in Illinois. I'd never heard of a spice shop either, just get stuff at the grocery store. By the time I smelled all the different cinnamons, I couldn't smell ANYTHING and brought home some Vietnamese cinnamon. That stuff is potent, use less than you would from the generic "McCormick's" bottle.

@Teila Minced beef goes through a mincer, ground beef goes through a meat grinder. I suspect they are the same device.
I'm no expert but I think:
Things cooked on a BBQ are BBQed but BBQ is not just any old thing cooked on a BBQ. That isn't confusing, right? BBQ, the food, relates to how the food is prepped/seasoned. Dry rub or wet sauce. Now I'll let the experts tell us the details.

Makes sense! We do not use the term BBQ often if referring to preparation, probably because this would cause confusion due to the frequency BBQ'd [cooking method] is used.

Was the place a chain or Mom and Pop place?

I too am disappointed int BBQ Places that I go too. Same with steak houses. Whey spend that much on going out when what I make at home is much better!

Are you looking forward to starting up at the Golf Course?
Totally agree!
DH picked me up from dropping off my car for an oil change. We decided to do some undercover research and checked out the new BBQ place in town.

Let's just say, we don't have anything to worry about :bun

Nothing was fresh made, only 1 BBQ sauce, the ribs DH got were terribly salty, the cole slaw and potato salad were tasteless (no seasoning at all). And pricey, wow, it was $45 just for our lunch.

Nope, we're ok!
Ouch! I hate paying big prices for crappy food.
The story we heard from others was this place was owned and started by 2 friends a few months ago. One of the guys that started it has already dropped out due to a dispute with his partner.

In a way I am looking forward to getting the restaurant opened for the season. As much hard work as it is, it's a real pleasure when you feed good food to people that enjoy it. I get a kick out of hearing back from satisfied, repeat customers.
I hope I get the chance to try it this summer :wee

A toxic dose of nutmeg can be 2-3 teaspoons. So don't sprinkle on too much please!

That's scary!

Hey KD the term is “throw another shrimp on the Barbie” and yes, we BBQ [not smoke] shrimp which we refer to as prawns.

However, if someone calls you a prawn ... whole different meaning :p

Yep, buns = buttocks

Hamburger mince is also minced beef, which, if you think about it is correct because it is beef that has been through a mincer.

Whoops, sorry! Couldn't remember the exact term because it's been a while since I heard anyone say it. But I knew I heard something like that. And wait.... so you DO say it!? Now I'm even more confused :lau

Well, not confused so much but I once heard someone say only tourists say that stuff

I actually did know what prawns are though because I watched a video with an Australian kid recently that mentioned/showed it! :p

And lol interesting. Here we don't really say it very often but people sometimes joke with it

Ahh that makes sense. Here we just call it a meat grinder so hamburg is ground hence why it is ground beef.

Canadians say bbq for grilled as well.

Ah, OK, I did not know that.

Here, grilled usually means heat/flame on top where as BBQ, heat/flame underneath.

And I think somewhere on the website it mentions it.

And yup, I bet it is the same machine.
