The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

So I got conned into going to a wrestling meet today. "It's your grandson's last high school match, he's going for his 100th win, it's Valentine's Day, I get up early and go to field trials with you." I hate wrestling. I went. He won his 100th match. He's always been a good wrestler, but this year he is 100% healthy, and he's a beast. I still hate wrestling.

Congratulations to your grandson, that's quite an accomplishment! And I bet he appreciated you being there to see him.

Well I guess I should have seen this coming.

Yesterday I let the girls out to scratch around their fenced yard. I walked around the corner of the coop to pick up something and all hell broke loose in the yard. In the 2 minutes I turned my back, that dog jumped over the fence and pounced on one of my birds. Her foot was injured and she was understandably shook up so now she's in sick bay.

I feel so guilty over her getting hurt, I thought the dog was with DH. DH blames me and said it was my fault.

Not the best Saturday ever.

Poor girl, I hope she heals quickly!!

He's a good kid. Played football, soccer, baseball but fell in love with wrestling. I have real problems with a 'sport' where a 170 # young man has to lose weight so that he can wrestle at 152

. He's had a leg broken in his sophomore year and a shoulder surgery last 'off season'. Turns out he had wrestled an entire season with an injured shoulder. Didn't tell anyone because he didn't to 'miss the season'.

I had the same issue with my kids...they loved it though injuries and all. They were both real good at it. Never got 1st in state but 2nd and 4th....went to matches for years and years.....I enjoyed it more than football. I hated football....

So I'm always talking about the wind in Wyoming -

Now, that was a joke. This, however, was not. This was today. The winds were so extreme coming home that our windshield was literally being blown off our van....it was lifting up at times so far that we could sometimes see daylight between the windshield and the van. With every 60 - 70 mph gust, the windshield peeled off a little more. It looks like we were speeding along, but in reality he was only going 45-50 mph in a 70 mph zone with the hazards on, which did not endear us to traffic behind us on the two lane highway. We kept pulling off to let the line of cars accumulating behind us go by safely. And you can hear the wind every time the windshield lifts up. Forgive the poor camera work, and watch it until the end, where the windshield really starts shaking loose. This was almost as hairy as the trip back from Torrington earlier in the month. First thing on my agenda tomorrow is a call to the insurance company.

Hi Blooie, It seems like you and DH need to invest in a set of "Biggles" leather flying hats and goggles! - beats a new windscreen any day
