What type of quail do you raise Sean?
I have Valley, Mountain, Gamble, Texas Chestnut Bellied Blue Scale, Bobwhite, Mexican Speckeled, Snowflake and Button. Want Black Throated Bobwhites but with the import laws, I'll just have to dream about them. They are indigenous to Central America and Venezuela. Very striking bird.

That reminds me of a thread I used to follow a few years ago. The OP couldn't find the breeds he wanted (chickens I believe) so he was flying overseas to get fertile eggs and flying them back home in his golf bag.

Maybe you should take up golf Sean. Golf in Central America or Venezuela.

I'd wind up in jail....ahh Sir, what are you doing with 300 eggs in your golf bag? Eggs? the caddy said they were golfballs!:lau

B&F .. brother and fiance ;)

Good suggestion! Thanks!

I know Macaws can't be kept with cockatiels and possibly African Greys due to the dander so it may be a trigger for you. Quail are dusty little things too but outside that's not a problem. My bourkes are probably the least dusty birds and they can be sweet hand reared pets but they don't like to be touched. They are neat freaks compared to our cockatiels although we have a young male who likes to wash his hulled oats before eating them, so he drops the shell in the water, which makes the water go gross.

Quail do need to be contained as they don't have a homing instinct like chickens do. I've had one escape and it did finally come back to find it's friends. I love the bobwhite call. Bobwhites need to be kept as pairs during the breeding season and need a bigger cage I believe. I love pheasants too! I've once had a covey of the Californian Valley quail come through our backyard. They are so cute. There are small wild populations here and you can keep them in captivity, or raise them to release.

Hmmm that might be a bad idea! I might be allergic but then I might be allergic to gerbils too haha but cockatiels seem like great little birds.

And actually I think I've heard of bourkes, are those rosey bourkes?, and how they are good pets. Also heard of lineolated parakeets and I think Quaker parrots. I forgot about some of these ha they say lineolated parakeets are good pets
