Yep, I've been thinking about down sizing to just raising the True pheasants....but then I'd just have that many of them too!The work load is way down too!
If you want to work with or interact with the larger birds and have the free time that they require, you could think about volunteering at a bird sanctuary etc where those birds will not be totally reliant on you and you alone.
Also, it would be great experience and practice to see if you do want to keep one and you will experience first hand the care and attention they require.

That is because you didn't want the rest of us to feel like the lazy slugs we are.I didn't even add the greenhouse or the rock wall...![]()
Or the reverse - Beverly Hillbillies episode. Jethro and Jed are invited to shoot some golf. They came home with "golf eggs". Granny just could not make those things edible no matter what.I'd wind up in jail....ahh Sir, what are you doing with 300 eggs in your golf bag? Eggs? the caddy said they were golfballs!![]()
If I cut my feed use by 4 pounds/day the chickens would have to be giving me 0.7 pounds of feed every day! And that is in the winter, they would have to come up with more when there is forage.I bet...i just sold 23 pheasants, cut my feed use by 4lbs./day, not a lot but noticeable.
50 years is a big commitment! What Teila said!!! No one should get any of the larger parrots unless they WILL be there for them for their entire 50 year lifespan. They aren't hamsters that will die in 2 or 3 years no matter how well you care for them.

Yeah, I always say: "You think chicken math is bad, get some pheasants and you'll have pheasant math, worse".
