Morning everyone :frow

Sad news today!:hitWhile away at work last night, a snake got into 1 of my quail pens. Wasn't big enough to eat any but certainly big enough to kill them.... I guess it just kept killing them to try and find one it could eat? Sorry, if this is graphic but their heads and a part of their breasts were partially disolved! Slime coated feathers.
Got into the pen by going through the opening of the corrugated metal at the edge of the roof. Left the same way. Well, now I got to seal the roof better before I put anything else in the pen.

View attachment 1396654 She’s a 13 week old Irish Wolfhound, top of our bucket list since 1983 and the stars are finally aligning. She had been placed, but the husband suddenly became very ill and has a lengthy hospitalization ahead, so they reluctantly returned her. That is good to know. The breeder said these people had such a great head start on her training and hated to return her, so Cari is holding their deposit for another litter in two years. I opted not to go look today because I decided Ken needs to be there. So we go over tomorrow afternoon and she’ll probably come home with us. In the morning Ken will break out the crate and clean it up while I go pick up some supplies. Cari (the breeder) knows Kendra. She came right out and said that a few of the other puppies were just too rambunctious and clumsy, so she wouldn’t have been really comfortable with us getting one of those. But this one is very mellow and laid back, so it should be a good fit and she would trust her. So unless something happens in the next 14 hours, it looks like we just crossed one thing off our bucket list.
Awesome dogs! I had a vet that owned one.

Oh no! I had a snake eat three guinea keets and kill another once, but it was too fat to get out . I put a secong latch on and it is hopefully snake proof. It was a large king snake. I relocated it an hour drive from here. Let it eat snakes there. I caught 2 of them last year.
What type of quail were they?

Morning everyone! I've had BYC open for a couple of hours now and every time I try to get here, something comes up. Day off work today & tomorrow, yippee!

@007Sean oh no, poor little quail! :barnie

@Blooie you HAVE to get that dog! I've wanted one of those since the first time I saw them in person (2 came into the animal hospital when I was there for my Westie years ago). LOVE those big shaggy sweet dogs :love Sorry to hear Kendra's first appointment (session?) didn't go as well as hoped for but she'll pick it up, she's a smart one!

@Teila how totally frustrating the company 2 situation must have been. I would have been hurling the computer out the window and on the phone with them saying exactly what I thought (probably good thing you have more patience than me ).

@sourland everyone knows you're a sweet gooey caramel inside a hard candy coating :gig

@Michelle Farmer-Brown good score on the eggs, hope you have a perfect hatch!:jumpy

A couple of you asked about the company that delivers our groceries...they are the same one we had last year and yes, we are stuck with them. The corp that owns the golf course & restaurant have a binding contract with them. Supposedly, we're to get another truck on Tuesday with all our stuff on it. We'll see!

Awww I love Irish Wolfhounds! A family friend has one but we don't see them often and I think they moved overseas so I've only met the dog like once but they're nice dogs!! Or should I say nice horses? :lau

Bought an angel food cake pan and some self rising flour yesterday and just ordered caster sugar to be here Tuesday so hopefully I will make an angel food cake soon! Although I read that UK sugar is much much courser than our sugar and that Domino brand granulated sugar is basically the same thing as caster sugar??? But we will see. I might try to make two batches, one with caster and one with Domino but I don't know if I have enough eggs for that. We will see.
