The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good Morning Friends :hugs

Beautiful robin pic DMC!

Blooie Wow, that pass pic is unreal to someone living in the tropics! Having said that, it was 57F [14C] this morning which equates to ‘the ice age’! :lau

Thank you all for your kind words and congratulations.

Hey Ron yep, gave 4 weeks’ notice yesterday.

Tee hee Sean no happy dance video!

Congrats to your daughter Sour; that is awesome!

To be honest, last night it was still all a bit surreal and it wasn’t really until this morning that it sunk in that I had resigned and that was because I did not approach my desk with that usual feeling of dread and instead, was smiling. As hubby said, let the countdown commence! :clap

I called my boss and told him before hitting send on the email and while he was sad for them, he said he was pleased for me but then, in typical form, proceeded to say that he would like my input on how they fill my role and I quote “may be we could look at getting a junior” Pfffft! :smack

My previous boss who was also my reference and to whom I was chatting yesterday said “they have no idea what and how much you do” and when I told him about the “junior” quip, he laughed and said “Yeah, good luck with that!”. 18 years knowledge with the company and the thought process is to replace me with a junior from outside who has no idea how any of our specialised systems work.

Anyways, why am I bothering to even care? Not my problem!! :wee
Here's hoping that you don't have to train the junior.

4 weeks' notice? Is that standard there? Here it's 2, and a large part of the population doesn't honour even that.

When I quit at Subway I gave a months notice as I knew it would be hard to replace me as I was a manager. I brought several homemade pies the last day and we had a party.

Boy, that was a lot of news to catch up on. Its a horrible day weather wise so a good day to take a break from the cleaning and sorting.

@Michelle Farmer-Brown we still have a few things to do before the house is ready to be put on the market. And you really don't realise how much 'stuff' you've accumulated until you have to pack it up (most of it generated by the kids)! We still have a few window frames and doors to paint, and a few jobs outside. Then we'll be ready.

@Teila I bet you feel amazing now that you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm so glad it's all worked out so perfectly. :ya

@007Sean sorry about your quail. I've got one I'm going to have to put down. I think a rat tried to grab her through the hardware cloth and she would fall on her side but would manage to right herself. Now she can't get up at all. Being a big softie I'm not looking forward to putting her out of her misery. She's still bright eyed and eats her specially dished up food, which makes it all the harder. Love the photo of the little fawn! Adorable!

@Blooie congratulations on your new member of the family. Fiona is beautiful! I've always admired Irish Wolfhounds. I have to say I'd love a calmer dog next time round. Our dog still has a puppy brain and anything that involves food - her brain explodes. She goes nuts when people visit too - you have to ignore her for 5-10 minutes, then she's fine. She's happy to snooze all day though so I'm thankful for that.

Hello to everyone else. :frow I'd better go let the cockatiels out. The poor things haven't been out the last couple of days. They need to burn off some energy!

Yep! You are family! :hugs

No party; but there is a huge sense of relief slowly starting to sink in!

Yep, 4 weeks is pretty standard after the end of the probation period which for me, was a very long time ago ;)

It was mentioned that management would probably want to give me an appropriate farewell after so many years of service and would I be interested in flying down if a party was organised…ummm, no! Just want to exit quickly and quietly, stage left

What, no going out in a blaze of glory? No handing them their now-void contract with a jar of Vaseline? No nuffin’?

Tee hee Blooie what is that saying "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing?".

I was going to tell them why but figured there is not much point because nothing will change and I will probably end up looking bad. So, I figure, just quietly get out and leave them to it.

I have tried in the past to address some of the issues but kinda pushed back into my box, so now picking up my box and moving on ;)

I have been chatting to some of the long list of people who have recently left and none of us can believe that no-one is seeing a trend here. However, we all agree, they are in for a rude awakening some time in the future ;) With myself and 3 others who have recently left, they have lost a total of 58 years of experience! Mostly due to the up and coming FIGJAMS who have no idea what professionalism and respect are and are too busy scrambling over each other to progress up the corporate ladder with no regard for those below them who are the ones actually doing the work.
