Great - I have a dentist appointment today for a 4 tooth bridge. I've never had one before.

Dentists always take a first look at my mouth and then smile broadly. They think I am their cash cow. He wanted to do an 8 tooth bridge for $3420. I said no way I'll get dentures instead. He said it was a bargain - over $ 10,000 worth of dentistry for that low sum.It also would have used up my dental insurance meager benefits for the entire year ( my share still would have been $ 3420)

Then he came back with a 4 tooth deal that he said would be $ 1200. and gave me a brochure for a credit company. No way. I'll see if my family will loan me the $$$(they would with no interest).

I suspect this will NOT be a good dental visit.

PS I once had a root canal way before this dentist no novacaine but, he said the nerve was dead. He was right.

Our Dentist is a husband and wife too! She is Chinese and he is Muslim. Between them they speak at least 4 languages.

Morning everyone

Must be lot of "bad" dentist's out there! I have also had a root canal done without anesthesia! I'll will make you catch a rabbit!

Ron - bet your dentist has interesting family reunions!

Diva - again, I feel your pain. I was in a terrible accident. Knocked my front teeth out and cracked or broke all the rest.
I went with implants $$$$ I think I'm still paying for them not to mention all the pain.

Back from dentist. Wouldn't have been bad at all except he loaded me up the kazoo with
novacain especially above front teeth- which made my nose numb. Awful feeling especially with all kinds of other junk in the mouth,was afraid I wouldn't be able to breathe.

They know I don't take novacain except for extractions. I only had one root canal many years ago and the dentist told me the nerve was dead, so I didn't need any. Dentists just do it out of habit. Ugh. takes so long to wear off I hate it.

The worst part was- dentist wanted me turned on a sharp angle so I was facing him from the chair. I kept getting sprayed with water, and it all ran down the side of my neck. I told him I thought he was waterboarding me. That little bit over 2 hours, drove me bonkers.

Many more impressions done. Dentist doesn't have spit sink (like the good old days) , assistant brought me two tiny cups, one to rinse and the other to spit into. That didn't go well - with the numb mouth, spit missed the cup. Icky. I'm sure I got bad marks for that.

A good dentist can reduce the amount of numbing medicine and give it time to work if you request it. They prefer to use way too much so less waiting involved.
