The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Brother and I made steaks tonight, sweet potato, squash, and salad. Salad came from my plants. I was too full to eat much but tasty. Squash we put olive oil on and grilled but he accidentally dropped 3 of them (sliced a zucchini and a yellow summer squash in half lengthwise) so we split one. Put lots of fruit in the salad. Tasty. Why is it that we don't eat this healthy when our parents are here? Lol

It is nice to get so much from your garden!

Hey everyone! Hope Fiona's feeling better Blooie and you manage to get some sleep tonight. She sure is a cutie! Hope you get to catch up on some sleep too, Kelsey.

I'm loving seeing everyone's gardens - can't wait to plant a vege patch and orchard!

I'm starting to worry we won't find somewhere to move to (not that we are quite done here - the house still needs washing, we want to lay bark down where it's very boggy, we need to get a few pieces for the fireplace as it has coloured panels on it and the front one and sides are looking rather worn, and I'm sure there are a few other things still to do, but we are getting there). Poor Hubby tried to take 3 days off last week but his assistant manager isn't really right for the job and she decided to call in 'sick', and he ended up working all weekend. Grrr!

But there are just so few house listings at the moment it's not funny so it's probably a good thing we aren't done yet. I've looked into putting a house on a section, but it would be a 5 month wait for the house to be built (it's one that's made in a warehouse and transported and dropped on your section which is actually faster, and cheaper, than getting one built on site). I really don't know what we could do for 5 months, and with all our animals renting isn't an option. There are little units we could hire with a bathroom and mini kitchen, but then there's the issue of what to do with all our stuff as it sure wouldn't all fit in one of those. Plus that's more money so we are trying to find out how much everything would cost so that we can price it out and see if it's an attainable option for us. So I'm feeling just a little stressed!

But Baby Winter is getting big and so cute. The parents are now off the nest more than they are on, giving us a chance to pat and fuss over the little cutie. So here are some photos for your enjoyment:

Thanks for the update!

I hope it all works out soon for you

Winter is really getting cute! Yep, Fiona is much better, thanks. And she'll stay better now that we fenced off the apple trees.....got so used to the chickens keeping old, rotten apples cleaned up back there that I never gave it a thought until I took a slimy one from her this afternoon. Yuck!

Jar, there's really nothing I can say to help but hang in there! I can't imagine the stress levels!

Where the heck has Teila been, by the way....thinking about you and where you live triggered the question. Have I just missed her somewhere along the line with my sporadic visits?

It is nice to get so much from your garden!

I wish they were all from the garden! Just the lettuce, sorry, worded it weird. Although it was 3 types of lettuce. And hopefully we WILL have squash soon if those plants ever pick up! Lol might need to buy some new ones

And Jae, thanks. I hope you are able to rest too and figure something out, sounds stressful.

Went to a 10 o clock movie. I am getting too old for this lol

Good morning everyone! :frow

All of you with gardens are making me jealous! I use to have a big garden every year but the deer have been eating it to the ground, so I quit. Don't want to put up a deer proof fence around it....would rather spend that money on another pheasant pen.:lau

Everyone make it a great day!:celebrate
