The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

And I once got an official patty-slap for commenting that I must have missed the part in Storey’s that said food and water for chicks must always be warm. This was to the same lady who came into my thread and argued that Mama Heating Pad was just like an MRI to chicks which makes MHP harmful and that heat lamps are essential for not only warming chicks but also keeping their food and water warm. I kinda had that reprimand coming because sarcastic responses are rarely a good idea, but in my defense the woman seemed to be stalking me and posting snide nasties no matter what I said. Love that blocking feature!!
:love

We know better, Sour - you’re really still courting the Princess so we’re sure you’re in your “best behavior” mode at home!

I forgot to comment on Lil Miss Blueberry Muffin Face. Now, seeing that can put an all-day smile on a persons’s own face! So cute!!

Debby, the girls are home. Got home on Friday with double the assortment of noodle necklaces, slightly wrinkled paper stained glass windows, popcicle creations and decorated plastic cups! It all must have gone alright...they asked Jen if Kendra gets to come back with Katie again next year. Only one incident - because of her seizures, they had Kendra and other girls about her age in a cabin with a nurse and two councilors always there but they put Kendra’s mattress on the floor. If she seized during the night, they didn’t want her to fall out of her bunk. So about 3 am a noise woke them up. Kendra had gotten out of bed, got up into her chair (and picked the right one in the dark, out of the 4 that were in there) and she was trying to open the door. She was going swimming and nobody was going to stop her from getting into that makeshift splash park. :lau That’s my girl!!!

What a girl! :gig There's no stopping Kendra!

Loved the pix blooie
Sour I agree with Debby
And when talking about getting smacked around, try talking about feed... Or emergency vitamins (when they don't have nutri-drench)... Especially with those who have no choice but to try and make their own... Glad my stalker finally went away.... She's still out here but has left me alone pretty much since Halloween...

It sounds like most of us have had our turn

I spent 20 years in the DC metro area..... I can't tell you how good it is to be here...

Meanwhile.... we have less than a couple dozen articles that need review and I'm outta gas...

go here and the last one to complete an article can tell nifty to update his query... I'm not far from the ether based easy chair....
Got about 40 done. I hope that helps.

I feel the same way, I'm not posting or "liking" for the numbers. I post because I want to help someone that's going through some situation that I've been there, done that, point of view and maybe my answer will help them and not have to wade through all the muck I did, in that situation.

I don't particularly like the new "year" badge either, I understand the concept but why put a 5 year date as being the time your able to be considered for that badge? I'll answer my own question; because lots of members don't stay here long enough for it but at the same time their using it as a way to "judge" whether someone has enough experience to give sound answers to questions asked in these forums.
Just because you have been a member on BYC for a 100 years, doesn't mean you know diddly squat. It has no bareing on whether or not I think you have knowledge of the subject...your answer will determine if you know what your talking about or just spitting out words to see where they splatter. That's one of the reasons I joined because so called Educators were "spitting out" awfully wrong answers, of which it was obvious they had no real world experience. And I couldn't correct them unless I was a member.
( I'm not directing this at you Blooie, at all) when you answer a thread, you know what your talking about, you have a vast knowledge of a lot of subjects, and I value your answers, your thoughts.
I understand how you have worked hard to get to where you are on this forum and I too don't think it's right to just "toss" all that out the window over a predetermined parameter.
I for one don't want to see you leave. I look forward to reading your posts and articles.
You have contributed so much to the enrichment of Backyard Chickens, your leaving would be a sad day for sure. And I think I can speak for most members, it would be a great loss to this community.
I agree completely.
To be honest, I was so excited when I learned that you were on this thread. I already knew about you. Your reputation precedes you, and it's a great one. Your articles have been very helpful to me in making decisions and forming ideas. If you weren't valuable why on earth did they just use one of your articles as a feature? Because it's that good and that helpful.

Personally, I've never really even looked at any of the ratings or such. I agree that the badges help me to know who might be best to answer my questions, but everything else is of no importance.
