Usually microbursts are plunging downdrafts. We drove around for a bit this morning when we went to get photos of Tam’s house. By the light of day a distinct pathway through town is very obvious. All of the damage to siding, framing, and windows is on the north sides of homes and businesses. The exceptions to that are where debris was thrown around. Most folks are now saying there’s was a rope-type tornado, but could have also been straight-line winds. All I know is that 70 mph wind pushing golf ball sized hail can flat demolish things. We’ll just have to wait for official reports. I’d love to take a drone or small plane over town - that would tell us a lot. More expected tonight, too.
Initially we thought Tam’s house just had windows shattered, but a closer look today reveals a lot of damage to the new roof, too. Glad it’s all in the hands of the current owner’s insurance and that the claim is already filed. Just wish the final appraisal had been done before the storm, instead of scheduled for Monday. We can’t get inside to check for damages to the floors, walls, and appliances. The storm lasted about 15 minutes there, so it was open to anything being blown in and the heavy wind blown rain. We know there’s broken glass inside - we just don’t know how far it might have blown in.
