The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Driving on ice scares the crap out of everyone who has done it Deb! Nothing like the feeling of NO control. I once rear ended DW on ice. We had gone to pick up my car after it was serviced. She was at the red light, ready to turn right, no traffic anywhere. I was coming down the hill, not doing even 5 MPH I don't think. Stopping short was not an option and her getting going quickly wasn't either. Just a small tap though, no damage.

I do think I'd like to at least visit at some point or like the other towns on the coast but probably not to live there.

Oh wow that's awful, I didn't realize it was so bad. :/

But then I figure lots of places have those things happen too so idk.

I don't want to stay here because I'm still living at home atm, which I don't want to dp, and everything around here is really expensive and if it's not, it's usually dangerous. And most apartments in Boston aren't less than like 2 or 3 thousand and they go even higher too. Definitely wouldn't be able to afford that. But minimum wage is also way higher here so I do plan to stay for at least a little while and get a "real" job.
maybe if you lived outside of the city it wouldn't be as bad but i know you couldn't pay me enough to live in pgh, i'm very thankful that husband was from a small town in the country or otherwise i would have been divorced and living in florida again:gig

Awesome piece!
oh wow, thats a beauty, i have one that was my gm's but no where as nice, gm's is all beat up and husband took out the machine so i could use a new machine, but still have gm's machine in the attic in a box, just in case i want to treadle:lau

Every place that has tourism as part of their economy has horrible traffic.
New York city
San Diego
Los Angeles
San Francisco
San Antonio
Chicago
You name it... But that traffic is seasonal.... somewhat. Eastern cities have old infrastructure. Historic roads meant for Tin Lizzies or horse drawn vehicles. I am sure some have been placed on historic lists. I would love to visit but cant walk the tours... But living there is out of the question for me.

I am most comfortable in the desert... I understand it the seasonal changes. I have only driven on snow a handful of times... Ice only once.... scared the crap outa me.

San Antonio's traffic usually isn't that bad. At least you have 4 or 5 different ways to go to get to your destination, unlike Dallas, Austin and Houston, those cities are the worse to drive.
