The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Some of the things we need/want to do:
So about a weekend's worth of work? :lau
Unless you are actually going to live there, not sure why you would spend the money to replace the appliances.

Forgot...prior to 2011, the house had a flat roof then a hip roof was put on it. The downspouts are all covered by the newer hip roof so we'll fix that when we put up guttering (no gutters now).
There is a reason not to have gutters in snow/ice country. Got ice backing up in the gutters of the prior house. Mostly on the more flat porch roof, not so much on the 10/12 pitch house roof. Or if it did, it was likely on the south side, no visibility to that since they are about 15' up and the driveway is on the north side of the lot. No gutters at this house but since I put snow rails on the rebuilt half after the big ice slide of 2014 I could have some now. Without the rails they are at great risk of being taken out since the roof is metal.

The current appliances are old and beat up (hard to tell by the photo). Also, when the dishwasher was put in, apparently it was too large for the opening, so whoever put it in cut into the countertop.

We need gutters to divert rain away from the house. The driveway has a slight tilt toward the house and we don't want water backing up there.

You can smack yourself in the head with a hammer repeatedly. Why? Because it feels so good when you stop.

:(
Hope you don't suffer too much! Clearly too busy a schedule when you can't keep track of what day an event is to be held!

That would probably just cause a pretty big migraine aha

And I think the people running it told them the wrong day, no?

You all want to see our project house? I pulled photos off the listing so I can use these as our "before" pictures.

I love it!

Buy an A1C test at Walgreens if you have one. In a few minutes you’ll know if you have diabetes.

Looks like a cute little house Debby!

Thanks I'll have to do that

Good morning, Chat Folk.

@KDOGG331, sugar is your enemy. I went low carb about 6 months ago on the advice of @FridayYet for inflammation relief. End result - I lost 10 % body weight, BP 117/78, inflammation greatly reduced and no migraines. If someone like me can do this, so can you.

Thanks Sour, that's really encouraging! I think I'm definitely going to work on it! So it's basically like no bread and a lot of protein and veggies or? My issue is I have like zero self control and will power :( I guess that could also be considered impulse control? Work on teaching it a lot with the dogs but I myself have none :gig but I'm going to try to force myself to or like build it up or something because this is really dangerous. I mean, I think I was told I had prediabetes like January of last year.

Looks pretty good! Not even sure what NEEDS to be done.

Step 1, get rid of those nasty CFLs in the bathroom and put in some LEDs ;) Not sure what is holding up that A/C unit!

I wonder how @FridayYet is doing, haven't seen posts from her for some time.

For me the first thing would probably be the paneling and multicolors in the master aha but everything else almost looks new

You are a strong woman! Good for you!

X2

Oh and the window in the middle of the shower but only cause I would be paranoid people could look in it.

The backyard looks huge!! Plenty of room for chickens :D

Or a dog to run around if you had one

We're still up in the air about what to do with that shower window  One of many things we'll have to figure out as we go along.

It is a nice size yard! I'm already looking forward to spring when I have someplace to play in the dirt planting stuff!

That's understandable! I bet it would be pretty expensive and a lot of work to fill in the hole if you took it out? Especially since it goes all the way outside so multiple layers. I wonder if you could just cover it with something? That way you wouldn't have to replace it and no one could see in. Either like a curtain or something or even cover it over with plywood or tile? Where is the window located? If it faces your yard that might not be such a big deal but if it faces like the street or something, I would definitely at least cover it. But it doesn't really seem to be too high priority with the other stuff you could fix first.

And I bet!! You could probably have a great garden there!! You'll have it looking fabulous in no time, I'm sure!

The bathroom window looks out to the back yard. We'll come up with something.

Thanks Kelsey!

Wow! You said it was a fixer upper, so I thought that it would look more like my house.
I'm assuming those floors are laminate right?

Well that's not quite as bad then since (hopefully) you won't have anybody lurking in your backyard!

No problem :) you have gardens now, right? Or no?

I wish I had gardens but it's not my house so I can't really do anything. But my mother, while great, kind of just throws random plants in or buys stuff on sale or whatever. And often half buries it rather than putting it fully in so some of the plants die. Yeah, not the best gardener... :lau the only one that's pretty nice and not too random and is actually pretty is the front garden. When I get my own place I'm gonna garden way more I think. For now the only thing I can garden is vegetables

I actually checked the other day. She hasn't been active since June. :(
