The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I use GIMP at work and it is very good! It does have a learning curve but not too much of one!
Ok, true confessions... I am NOT the best at photo editing. I did a quick reference guide for one of our processes and the sweet lady who does them for a living was as kind as she could be about telling me I did a horrible job. What she did was incredible!

This is one I fixed. It had a rip and gravy stains on it. This is my Grandpa Bill, The older boy is my Father and the younger boy is my Uncle Bill. Picture would have been taken in the early 1940s

Oh, you and that book. I should put those stories in a loose leafed binder with paper covers, autograph it and send it to you - except you’ve already read it! :lau
Yeah but I can't share it with others. Besides, my brain is a sieve. Go ahead and send it!!!

Yeah, but at least he'd have an autographed 1st edition! :gig
Yeah!!!! And when I publish it and the money starts rolling in I can put the money in @Blooie's grandkids accounts!

cricket ball sized hail
And just how big IS a cricket ball? For a sport that is pretty popular in various places around the world it is all but unknown (maybe totally unknown!) in the US of A!

Thanks Ron, my son is pretending he is napping even though I can hear the computer chair moving in his room. This means "LATER." When he gets hungry he'll be out.

Neither of my two cameras have been working. My son says I probably have them on "read only." so no photos show up on computer. I've had them 10-12 years with no problem, but, maybe I did jiggle the settings or something. Never could find the manuals for them - never needed them before. Just set at auto and took off from there. One is a Fuji(super good) and one a Canon - not good in low light at all.

OWWW cat got me good tonight. Was going to go downstairs to feed her and was holding her, crouched down to pick up a can at the top of the stairs (been meaning to move it downstairs since she is fed down there so it makes more sense but haven’t had a chance yet, case only came recently), she was purring but as soon as she saw the can in my hand, she of course got super excited/fidgety and wanted to be put down. Okay, no problem. Except that there wasn’t really a place for her to go because there had been some bins on top of the food I had to move and had set next to the food so we’re at the relatively tight stair landing and the box of food is in front of me, wall behind that, other boxes to my left, open door to basement behind them, and of course my legs. So she kind of like fell into the bins and of course she did NOT want to fall so what did she do? Yup. You guessed it... claws open wide and dug into my thigh/knee! Immediate response from me was screaming. Well, more of a very loud OWWWW/AHHHH!! Her little claws are sharp as heck (she is constantly scratching them on all our furniture all day long so it’s no wonder they’re so sharp) and plus she dug deep, deeper than I ever remember her getting me. Then later I picked her up again and she wasn’t happy and got my hand pretty good with her claws but thankfully not deep that time. But OUCH. And of course as soon as the dog heard me screaming the first time he came running to my rescue lol cat had already bolted downstairs so he didn’t do anything to her (not that he would have anyway. They get along decently) but he basically just wanted to make sure I was okay. Sweet boy. :love but the stupid cat. Ugh. I don’t blame her though, it’s not like she was being mean and nasty and meant to hurt me or anything like that, just didn’t want to fall, but man those claws hurt bad.

These pictures don’t look that bad because I had already washed them once here (and proceeded to wash them a second time and put hydrogen peroxide on after these photos) or like very big scratches but trust me, it hurt lol it also started bleeding almost immediately after. Gonna try to find some Neosporin next. I am paranoid about cat scratch fever lol

Also ignore the fact that I need to shave badly :lau :hide

What can I say, none of my dogs ever scratched me like that for any reason. That's right, they are dogs. That's why I would never, ever have a cat. If anything annoys them they are quick to carve initials in human hide.

Yup! Definitely a lot more willing with the claws! Lol thankfully Luna is a very gentle cat and really doesn’t use her claws hardly at all and rarely bites but they definitely do spread eagle and claws out when falling lol that said, the pups have gotten me a few times too but that’s just because they are very over excited, happy puppies right now and jump sometimes. But they have gotten better, Libby doesn’t jump anymore but Frank is a work in progress. He gets so happy and excited and wiggly lol Libby likes to use her paws because of the Boxer but working on discouraging that and Frank’s jumping. Although they say he doesn’t jump or get that crazy excited for them lol whoops :hide he was so crazy for like 5, 10 minutes when I went over there Friday aha guess he loves me :lau

But anyway, at least with dogs when they use their claws, it’s usually by accident because they don’t realize they have them and are happy rather than purposely using them for painful human destruction lol and you can also trim them. Can you trim cat claws?

Yes. Mine get trimmed every few weeks.

Huh, maybe I should trim hers then. I tried once but only got one claw cause she hated it and never tried again. That was I think a couple years ago. She is almost 8 1/2 (born in August) and I’ve never done it.
