I had a great ortho surgeon years ago. But he had terrible office practices. You had to keep calling and find out the waiting time to see him for your appt. For instance if you had a one O'clock appt. The receptionist would say he's running 2 hours late, so come at 3. Also she'd say - call before you leave the house. Another delay, I believe I had my first appt. 5 hours late.

He was always over-scheduled. I walked in and all manner of of patients with braces, crutches etc., were sitting on the floor - all seats already taken. It looked like a war zone.

Finally got called in. Wow, he was gorgeous, tall, slim, bald but, had the most gorgeous blue eyes. Forgot what I said to him but, he got embarassed and looked at the wrong leg.

I had a lump on the right leg that ran from ankle to just below the knee. Actually the lump was below the skin. I didn't know how I could have missed seeing/feeling it before.
Dr. sent me for a scan.Since I hadn't been to a doctor since I started HS, I asked him to explain the precedure for that. I was okay with it.

When I was having it performed, it was just like he said EXCEPT, The tech started an IV and it burned like heck. Of course I fell apart there and thought it must be much worse than I expected.

Next dr.appt, and he measured the widest part of the growth and drew a line with a ball point. He told me to measure it monthly and come in again if it got bigger. I was measuring it much, much more often. Otherwise I could just come in every 3 mos.

I told him I'd rather have it taken out. Right before Thanksgiving 1983 I had an
excisional biopsy. He said he couldn't have it entirely removed because I would loose too many blood vessels. He said in a couple of years the scar would fade away. That was 1983 and yes, you can still see the scar from the incision to this day.:tongue. He said it was a lipoma (benign) but, they tended to reoccur. :idunno

BTW he was a fine Irish doctor and always hugged me. :love:wee

He put a cast on it. I asked if I could go Xmas shopping. His exact words where "Just don't go running around." I take people quite literally. So with one shoe on, and one of my father's house slippers on the other leg, I did Xmas shopping "walking slowly."

In a day or so, some stitches popped and blood was oozing. Went back to doctor. He said he expected that. But we both survived.

Many years later my Dr.surgeon turned up in my brother's cardiac rehab class, he had had a heart attack. That has nothing to do with the story. But I couldn't think of anything else to say. I know this runs on and on but, at least I made paragraphs:yesss:
