The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

The question is will the chickens attempt to fly over the fence. It depends how badly they want in the woods. It might work ? I could even lure them in with food. :) if I decide to use regular fencing I wonder if I could have the hole size of the fence just big enough so the chickens can squeeze thru but the pigs and goats can't.
Belive me dont leave any gaps for chickens If a goat can get their head in they will work it till they can muscle out... There are ways to make pass through for people that would exclude large animals... you could make a scaled down version for chickens....

Best I can do is share pictures
Y shaped pass through

Ya I can touch pigs it's not that I think they are unclean to touch or anything. I just don't eat them. I have heard they have a lot of parasites and the last time I ate pig I got sick. Then I started finding verses in the Bible about how certain animals are not good for you. so I just cut all pork and unkosher products out of my diet. Plus Dogs aren't kosher either but I still pet them I don't see why not.

home made muster sounds does healthy :drool

You're place sure does grow some good stuff doesn't it?:highfive:
You just have to be ready to spot it... Wild Mustard Grows EVERYWHERE...

High desert has more foliage YOu can eat lots of things... and grow pleanty but you have to beat the wild animals to it. As well as Amending the soil. horse manure is awesome but it needs to cook in compost for about a year or two. Rabbit is best because it doesn't need to be composted.

The only determining denominator is water. No water No garden. Thats why I will put in a grey water purification system ... Which includes water hyacinth.... A few fish to keep down the mosquitos and use the final product for the garden. Water hyacinth can be dried compacted and used in the fire place. And its prolific I want to use it as well in my Aqua ponics system to give baby fish a place to hide

Water hyacinth

There are other uses for them as well .... Dried they can be used for weaving baskets or using in permaculture.... But the best use for me would be bundling as a wood substitute in a Rocket stove.

Don do you mind if I ask if you are Jewish? You don't have to answer if you don't care to.
I'm not UP on everything but, I know Jews aren't supposed to eat pork because pigs have cloven hooves. Or sea food that have no scales. Generally foods that Arabs call Hallah have been slaughtered the same as Kosher.

I see no reason why you can't pet dogs and like them, you just aren't supposed to eat them. If you come across member Brahma Chicken 5000, he could tell you much more.

My mother's parents were Orthodox but, my mother was very lax about it. It was easy finding Kosher deli's and butcher shops in Chicago but not true after we moved out 50 years ago.

You could google "kosher foods," or similar and probably get more info than I can give you.

No appointment for me today. Just spent almost 45 minutes trying to get out of the area closest to my house but no dice. Everything is snow with ice on top and crazy wind.

I'm home with the cats and a hot cup of coffee and that's ok with me!

Well, at least you're cozy and warm. Glad you didn't chance it Debby.

I'm probably too cautious but it scares me to think of getting stuck out here and not a single person to help out. Even hiking all the way back to the house could be bad. I 100% believe better safe than sorry!

I really don't know how to answer that, Sharron. I don't know if it's scar tissue, minute bone fracture or if metalosis is setting in? or if arthritis is taking hold?:idunno I've been in pain quite a bit lately... I wasn't for several months. Maybe it's just being "worked" too hard...I've been having severe muscle cramps deep down in the thigh muscle area...bad enough to wake me up from a sound sleep. So just don't know what's going on...
don't really like this sean, so sorry you're hurting, i know that can be a real witch, sure all of us at this day and time know what its like to be woken up with pain. i will say a prayer for you that it quits hurting, not sure it will help but maybe? if its arthritis, it will slack off after awhile, or at least mine has, its still there but not as bad:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs
