The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

That sounds like Bob & his wife Sue's situation (according to Bob, Sue comes out once the killing part is done).

When we had meat rabbits, DH got to do all of it by himself. I didn't mind cooking the rabbit meat, but I didn't want to be involved in the rest. (What a sissy I am!)

You are definitely not a sissy. It's not a great thing to experience and we all have limits regardless of what other people think.

Oddly enough I was actually ok skinning etc. Just couldn't be there for the kill. I hid in the chicken coop.
on chickens, i just turn my back, rabbits, never there, husband did it, pigs and cows, someone else did all the dirty work, all i had to do was pay, take it home and put it into the freezer, going to do that with our pigs too

I think it would make a difference if it was something that had to be done to keep from starving. But I'm a long way off from starving.

I agree. Honestly, I did it once because a couple of quail were suffering and then cried all day. The second time was a chicken for dinner. Now I know how and that I'm capable and that's enough.

A suffering animal is something I couldn't walk away from either.

I'm proud of you for learning how to do the chickens Kim, that's a real accomplishment!
